Dem Senator Menendez to face criminal corruption charges

Heh. This is going to be a lot more fun that I thought.

And he is playing the race card right out of the gate. Giddy-up. Shame on you dems. You see brown skin and automatically assume he is guilty.

Note to prosecutors: The scumbag is a flight risk and would have plenty of money in foreign accounts and bahamian crypto. Do a custodial arrest and get his passport. Oh, I see. That is only for Paul Mannafort and Roger Stone. Two systems. What was I thinking?

the LaMe StReAm MeDiA.

(You really should sit this one out until you can come to terms with your guy being under indictment 4x and out on bail.)

Yeah. Where’s Booker though?

You are definitely getting uppity and self-righteous about the fact that a pile of new jersey democrats are calling for his immediate resignation. Versus the last time he was indicted for corruption. New Jersey let it run its course.

The real reason your ilk is willingly piping up is because you know that he is damaged goods and will be a drag on the democrats while he is there and will not be re-elected even if he hangs on through all the extended legal stuff.

Compare this with last time: You had a republican governor, Chris Christie. And if Boullion Bar Boy Menendez had stepped down, Christie would have appointed a Republican replacement. You have a dem governor now and do not need to worry about that but you need to get someone in there to preserve chances of re-electing a dem, and Menendez is not that person.

Therein lies the explanation of why you and your ilk are so self-righteously condemning him now. If you had a republic governor, you would be trying to drag it out as long as possible with the "innocent until proven guilty" routine. It's how your ilk roll.

There is some truth to this. Ten years ago the case was rather weak, to be honest. The evidence now is much stronger, at least as represented. And yes, Menendez on the ticket will lose. Homeboy has got to go (but won’t).

Menendez steps down as chair of Foreign Relations Committee
Senate Democrat bylaws require any member to step down from leadership if charged with a felony.

"...Conviction of a felony, however, means the member will be permanently removed from their leadership role."

Since convicted felons are not allowed to vote in elections, shouldn't they also not be allowed to vote on the Senate floor, which would then preclude him from being a Senator, because that is the core duty of the job?

The voting is mostly a state by state issue.
