i'm trying to keep this thing up on top of the main page.

it is still a bit pricey.
never the less a pretty decent deal if u are looking for those tech support upgrades.

I understand what you are saying, and I am trying to keep the base price in perspective for what the upgrades are worth. It looks like you can get around $1200 upgrades for free if you start with the $1199 configuration.

I have 3 DELL boxes and an Inspiron Notebook and I will never buy another DELL again.

It does not not matter how much you pay for a service contract, there is SUB PAR support that speaks broken Hindu in Bangalore on the 1-800 numbers.

With that info increasingly being in the news lately, maybe that's why Dell is subsidizing the cost of the extended service warranty in this particular sale.

Non-PC maker Apple has been alone at the top as best in service for desktops and laptops,

You're unfortunately right. Dell support used to be good. Now, if you ever get through to a person, it's someone on the other side of the planet, speaking in broken english, over a poor VoIP line.

The last Inspiron I bought (a few month ago) only came with 90 day warrenty. Pretty sad.

I totally agree, terrible CS. Basically it's someone in India flipping through a manual, trying to explain something to you that they don't understand themselves in broken English. I'll never buy another Dell for that reason alone.

Even if one starts with the $549 sale price for the Inspiron 2200 basic version elsewhere on the Dell website and thru other sites, the total comparable savings gained by upgrading to the max compared to the $1,199 Blow Out sale version is only about $800. So, this Blow Out sale is still best for this Dell model.

Remember, this is a Back to School beginner model sale. But, still worth considering for a trader looking to have a basic laptop with adequate processor and memory.

It just seemed to be a good deal for a notebook when 'maxed', and I have always had very good experiences with dell. I am not using it for a trading computer, actually buying it for my daughter for school.

Now stay tune for the really great deal - when I come back trying to peddle it here for half price

Could it be consumer vs. small business?

I bought a Dell Workstation (Precision 370) in Nov-04., and I could not be happier with the computer or the service. The service rep's are located in the US, at least when I last talked to them, Dec-04 timeframe. Obviously pricier than the consumer side, mine came to about $1800.

I WOULD buy a Dell again.
