Delay: US and Israel must enjoy second coming

Quote from Cache Landing:

Neither side in this argument is fully correct, because each is so intent on being "right".

Is Iran a threat right now? Not really.

Could they be in the future? Sure, anyone could.

Does our governement lie constantly? Yes

Are the lies restricted to one party? No

Did Bush orchestrate or cause 9/11? Unlikely

Did he want Iraq to be responsible? Likely

Were there alterior motives to declaring war on iraq? Sure

Does Bush have personal interest in oil? Absolutely

Is he trying to use Iraq's oil or prevent it from being used? The latter is the more logical argument.

Would we be well served by electing a president with no ties to the oil industry? Absolutely

Does every religion have radicals it isn't proud of? Yes

Do these individuals either prove or disprove the truthfulness of the religion? No

Does religion cause more bad than good? Unlikely

Is the good that religion causes hard to quantify? Yes

Is the bad that religion causes hard to quantify? No

Does the US cause some bad in the world? Yes

Does the US cause good in the world? Yes

Should the US withdraw from the world, secure its borders and resort to merchantilism? A resounding no.

Does the good done by the US outweigh the bad? The question is rhetorical in nature, but the answer is likely yes.

If our governement had something to do with 9/11 does that make me ashamed to be an American? No

Do I feel guilty about the people who are killed in Iraq? No

Why? Because I refuse to take accountability for the actions of others.

Is our political system flawed? Absolutely

Is there an easy way to fix it? No

Even I agree with almost everything he said except for the following two;

Should the US withdraw from the world, secure its borders and resort to mercantilism? A resounding no.

Why would pulling out of everyone's business lead to mercantilism???

And

Does the good done by the US outweigh the bad? The question is rhetorical in nature, but the answer is likely yes.

Give a time frame (60s and over) and you will see that the bad outweigh the good by miles.

I would like to clarify one thing that wael said to dddoo.

If there is a second coming of Christ it will not be Christian fundamentalists forcing Jews to convert - It will be God giving them a chance to get it right this time.

Before anyone gets all offended please note the statement is qualified and that qualification makes the statement true by definition.

And what would god do to them if they didn't get it right jem?

When I said "withdraw from the world", I wasn't just talking about militarily. I meant completely. IOW, isolating ourselves from the world. People want (get) things from the US other than goods. Withdrawing from the world in a military sense disrupts many of the trade arrangements we have. Economicaly speaking this is not good for any nation that we do trade with. Also many countries like Nepal recieve a significant amount of aid from us. It would be a shame to see that withdrawn. In the end, specialization and trade are good and they shouldn't be restricted.

In regards to the second statement. It is plagued with rhetoric and speculation. The bad is very easy to quantify, while the good is very difficult. This is more of an opinion question, so it probably shouldn't have been included.
