Deadbeats Win, Taxpayers lose

To have a less stupid population.

What I support most is state colleges being free like K-12

K-12 is paid by local tax payers, who then fund their school district. You don't get to send your kids elsewhere though. Colleges would have to have a different model. Additionally, I'm not sure you can sell taxpayers on paying for ridiculous subjects and majors.

I could see myself being willing to pay for free engineering school (with certain performance stipulations, etc) or maybe a med school. But I'm not about to pay for liberal arts.

Public education in the U.S. is paid by a combination of federal, state, and local dollars. K-12 is not simply paid by local taxpayers who fund their own school district.

~90% is from the state and county. Close enough. And students can't go to other schools (school choice isn't widely adopted).

At what government level do colleges get their funding?

Student loans should be interest free and only have service fees.
How about the student who wants to be a plumber and doesn't go to collage. He needs to buy a truck and tools......He needs 30k to start his career........He should get interest free loan?
