DACA - anyone have a non-stupid prediction of what Trump will decide?

hey the good news is if its true that Trump is really giving 6 months for Congress to decide -we can all count on the Dems and establishment Republicans to work together to do the correct thing. We all trust Congress to do the will of the people don't we

why should this be anything but great news. for everyone.

I can't wait to see the twisted crap ryan mcconnell pelosi and schummer can dream up.

Seriously though. Some of this sounds upbeat today because we don't know the details. Sounds like he is saying that he will throw a lifeline to the program and then congress needs to work something out.

Okay, that sound reasonable. But let's not forget that he has veto power over the final product and if he unrolls it tomorrow and says -oh by the way, I will veto any bill that does not include the wall, then things are going to go sour pronto. And of course that is either a real possibility or a likelihood.

Not speaking in human terms because I probably know quite a few DACA poeple...

Just speaking in terms of politics...

I hope Trump does use this to bring some dems and some republicans to the and really cut back on legal immigration and illegal immigration. I would really hope they come up with a plan to stop creating democrats but help immigrants in their home countries before they have to come here.

I would even be willing to donate a decent amount of money in a check box on my taxes if they came up with a good plan.

My major objections to immigration is that we create democrats and hurt wages.

Some say the 6 months gives time for congress to grant amnesty.

Others say congress can never get amnetsty passed and the 6 months is so that republicans will be forced into extensive debates on the issue in the runups to their primaries and they'll be forced to take a stance that will leave republican voters with no doubt as to which side each congressman stands. Flush them out.

Sure, in-state tuition no less- and set aside scholarships and financial aid for illegals.

I am a nineth generation American but if I go to the University of California or community college then I pay out-of- state tuition. If I am from El Salvador and crossed the Rio last month without the benefit of documentation then it is in-state tuition.

It's all good I guess. OR NOT.

Except that's bs and you know it. Most in-state tuition waivers require having resided in the state upwards of 3 yrs or have graduated from a state's HS. As far as not going for scholarships and financial aid....what can I tell you, don't raise scum and tell your kids to write that essay and get the 2.8 GPA the grants ask of them; I know most of my peers wouldn't even do that when I graduated. The money was there, it always was, they just wanted handouts and didn't even bother.

If you're talking about private scholarships from Uni's or other institutions, you don't have a leg to stand on, it's their money to do as they wish.

In an ideal world, each issue gets its own review and analysis on its own merits. In the real world, all of this will be going on while he is trying to get the boneheads in each party to take action on tax reform, crockcare, etc. Because all the congress types are kick the can down the road types, they are all thinking that if they have some type of immigration bill in process that they can dick around and trump will extend it again while they are trying to work things out. Don't count on trump doing that though. When the six months are up congress will have been difficult on both tax reform and obamacare and he will be plenty fed up with them. He will just tell them that daca is gone now. Pass something when you get around to it and I may or may not veto it or leave it the way it is. You had your chance. Can't blame him.

ok. the state by state varies. bottom line remains the same: illegals pay in state tuition according to the same criteria as citizens.
