Credit Card Companies Plan On Punishing Cutomers Who Don't Carry Balances

Just spent 2/3's of my rewards points today, bought some trading books amongst other things. I don't trust that they are not going to F with the points ala the government with retirement acounts and social security.

You assume everything, but you know nothing. You are an idiot.

Everybody is given the same choice when they open their credit cards - to pay them off in full each month.

It's clear what choice YOU made.

now that the bill is officially passed. anyone guess what the reality will be? Banks will probably make more money off those with good credit and those who pay off their balance in full. And still find a way to abuse those with higher rate and bad credit.

On a personal note, I'll probably downgrade my executive membership at Costco to a regular one. 4% rebate bye-bye.

THAT'S telling him!

What name is he called if he also pays his mortgage and car payment on time?

Ooh, ooh... what about if he actually saves some of his money?

The name for people who work for a living and pay their bills on time is. . .

SUCKER!

Slacking off, getting into debt, not bothering to read your mortgage contract when you sign a contract for hundreds of thousands of dollars, squeezing out kids you can't afford to pay for - all of this is the hallmark of the new privileged class. We reward screwups and punish success. We encourage failure and are harsh on those who do not fail. It's a race to the bottom now, whoever can make the biggest mistakes gets the biggest handouts. Whoever succeed the most, gets the biggest burden. It's the utopia that liberals have been eager to spring on mankind.

An idiot is someone who makes statements like you did.

How many charge offs are on your file?

I suppose that the banks and multinational corporations that have their hands in the taxpayer pocket for hundreds of billions of dollars are a part of that shiftless and lazy utopia as well. Add to that rebate credit card holders who think they are entitled to free money. Where is this country going?

On a positive note, the credit card bill had attached to it a concealed carry bill in national parks.

You still know nothing about me and you are still an idiot.

Now that the bill has passed we will see that this was all corporate scare tactics, much like we see anytime there is an attempt at regulation.

The credit card industry is a cartel and thinks big fat profits are an entitlement. In the end they will be very profitable, instead of obscenely profitable. Whether we freeloaders still get have no-annual fees and rewards will depend on how well the cartel holds up.

This is exactly what's going to happen.

Reminds me of that commercial of a credit/debit card in which everything rolled smoothly until someone wanted to pay in cash...

CC companies will ramp up the fees, people will cancel their credit cards, shift to debit cards. If they ramp up the fees on debit cards then people will go back 40 years in time and begin carrying cash in their pockets again.

Online retailing will suffer a setback and the local stores will get a second chance. The whole buying/selling process will be annoying to most people used to plastic.

I'm in the process of collecting all my CC rewards, turning them into cash statement credits and/or transferring to airline miles. I'm expecting those reward programs to go bust, very much ala GM dealers.

Today you have it, tomorrow you won't...

People will adjust, life will go on, the cycle will repeat in a few years from now.

yes! but there is will be something else for those, who vote for this.. after all above, merchants will be dealing with much more cash. it will be much easier for them to under report, underpay their taxes and it will be much harder for government to control those activities..barter baby here we go..dual economy..cost effective, fast, cash only-no taxes to gov,no sale taxes..and open, legit and very expensive..

Thank god i am dont with all these credit card companies
I had opened a business in JAN ( Worst time to open a business but i got a good deal ) and i had borrowed $10K from citi to cover the deposit and goods
Luckily as of today i have only $2000 balance to pay
In the middle they raised my apr to 20.00% WTF
I called them and told them cancel my card i have been a 10 year old customer with never late fees .
Then they put my apr to 9.99%
Thank god i am almost done and by next month i should pay them completely.
