Creating a group of REAL professional traders?

I am tired of useless "trading rooms" that charge hundreds or thousands of dollars to join. By its very nature, most owners of these rooms don't even trade since they receive all of their profit from the membership of the room itself.

I am a professional futures trader - In other words, trading daily is my only source of income!

What do you think of creating an organization of ACTUAL professional retail traders? A group which is not subscription based, but rather verifies already successful traders to be part of the group? Why doesn't this exist...

{ I refuse to believe that successful, professional traders have an ego so large that they are not willing to work together and become even more successful. I believe this because I DID NOT get to where I am by "being a guru", not listening or asking questions, or working with others to get better at what I do. A support system is always beneficial in any type of business. }

I can't be the only professional (see my definition of professional above) trader here. In my mind it would make sense for successful retail traders get together to form an "Online Retail Firms" of sorts.

I value any and all constructive criticisms to this "wild" idea.

Keep in mind that some data/news vendors have their own chat rooms. Some only cater to retail traders (e.g. thinkorswim) whereas others cater to professional traders (e.g. bloomberg)...all included with the subscription.

Simply, you may have to look at your own data vendor to see if they have chat rooms. Another that had them a long time ago was TradeStation but I don't know if they still do. QCharts use to have its own chat room but that quickly dried up when eSignal purchased QCharts. It use to be a damn good chat room and was really surprised that eSignal showed no interest in maintaining the chat room...soon after eSignal purchased QCharts...the chat rooms dried up although they were very popular without a lot of crap.

Also, keep in mind that with today's social media...many professionals are just creating their own "private" chat rooms via the numerous low cost software out there...usually just people that work together at some financial institution although the bosses don't like such.

I just find it odd that the few times Baron opens up a chat room whenever he gets a lot of requests for such (I count 15 different members in the past year alone that has asked for a chat room to be located here at ET itself)...folks don't show up or its always a pssssing match between those that do show up.

Eventually he shuts it down.

Why does everyone make this so hard? If you want to try a chat room or to trade with someone, join one and see how it works. If you don't need or don't want to try it, than don't.

What is the debating about? Let's just use common sense math. Most traders fail and or struggle, so of course finding a good room or someone that's a good fit for you to trade with is going to be a difficult task. Even two good traders may not give each other any value. So you have to decide if investing your time to find out is worth it to you or not.

Use voice communication and trade for 2-3 days. That's max time it will take to see if its going to be beneficial or not. If you can't take it seriously enough to voice trade, than don't know what to tell you.

The problem wasn't the noob's, most of us don't mind helping people as we received help along the way. The problem was the bullshit and the social misfits.
I wont participate in a room full of noobs , i seek peers , im not interested in teaching anyone because it rarely brings me any satisfaction and i dont need the distraction .. If anyone starts a room with no noobs and a couple coders involved i would be interested to give it a shot . I am a systematic trader of Indice , Oil , Gold

I was a professional trader from 1985 through early 2011. 25 years as an option market maker and one year at an equity/option prop firm (Hated that one). I have been in sales since and a sponsor on ET. My clients are small and medium-sized Hedge Funds, CTAs, Trading Groups and Active Traders in equities, options and futures.

The problem is choosing the purpose of the "club." It is mostly business or mostly social with a little business. You might be looking for others to throw ideas at and hears ideas back and they might want to talk about lunch and sports.

Track record will likely not be the best way to pick your group.

A question, as it relates to the topic.

If you were a professional trader, why are you now in sales?

What makes you think you can teach anyone anything of value?

Guys, if you want the link let me know.
I will be leaving the country in a few weeks so, I can't be invested in the room as I normally would be.

Also when im waiting for the setup to occur, I can be hanging out in chat.....but when the setup occurs, im usually too busy to be typing my entries so there will be some delay. I think a chat room is helpful in if one trader eyes something(lets say he calls hes short from X), then I can look on my own chart and see if everything confirms.... in that way it can help I guess :p

Btw, keep an eye on Nikkei tonight. We are testing 2 key support levels right now. Very good risk/reward to get long here, but my bias is saying we could follow through to play catchup with USD/JPY's weakness and if that support breaks, well......I dont see support for quite a while...

What makes you think im interested in anything you got to say :D Whether i got something to teach or not is a moot point as its not happening . You are exactly the type of moron that destroys any positive ideas/intent in any chat room and are exactly what im trying to avoid ..
