Covid Relief and Stimulus package 3.0

There's a severe irony to this stimmy check thing...Anyone remember that it was Trump who whined about the then-at-the-time proposed stim check of $600, and railed that it should be $2000? So we had the compromise of $600 in December, just to get something out the door, and now the extra $1400. What if Trump had never said a thing? This bill might have been passed a bit sooner?

The majority of Republicans wanted nothing to do with $2000 checks. Only a few like Hawley supported it. McConnell didn't.

What I am saying is that if Trump had never mentioned it, nobody would have ever brought it up. Nobody ever even thought that high. They were simply thinking half the earlier $1200 amount would be fine. And it probably would have been. The bill might have been signed way earlier.

The only qualms Republicans had mailing out the first two was that more of it didn't go towards corporate bailouts. Main GOP guy Trump publicly pushed for 2k checks instead of 600 on the second round.

The higher payments was one thing Trump and democrats were in agreement on. Democrats were originally calling for a repeat of the first payments, I think $1400, or whatever it was.

Another republican idea in the bill is increased child tax credits and making them monthly payments.

On Fox News right now they are complaining about democrat spending
