And the owners of those businesses will find other ways to make a living. I bet in two years that Canada and US both have growing economies and reasonable unemployment numbers. This whole year has reminded me of early 2009, with many Americans losing their shit because they can't handle change in their life.
How would you see evidence of a lasting economic impact in such a short time?

The devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic will linger with Canada for years as weak foreign demand, low commodity prices and high private-sector debt weigh on the economy, economists say.
A new report from Capital Economics forecasts that GDP will fall 6.3% this year, remain below its pre-virus levels until early 2022 and is unlikely to return to its pre-virus trend until 2023 at the earliest. “Moreover if the latest outbreaks in the U.S. get much worse or there are new outbreaks in Canada, we would have to pull our forecasts down,” said Senior Canada economist Stephen Brown.
The long-term outlook is not much brighter.

The constant state of crisis in the US in recent years is just not a reality in Canada. I don't think some of you realize just how over board you've gotten on some of this stuff.
First, I get that Canada is a lot more quiet. But there is more to the world than Canada. I understand you live there. But the rest of us aren't really focused on it. That's not meant as an insult, I assure you. Its great for Canadians that they've managed to stay out of most of this.
As for how over board we've gotten on "this stuff", I am in total agreement. But such is the way of life when we are being driven to change our way of life and division is promoted every time one turns on the TV or computer.
