Captains warning is below. The warning is for people with IQs high enough to see a few moves ahead on the chess board.

"However many people eventually die from this virus will pale in comparison to the millions who are going to lose their jobs, thousands of business that will permanently close, the damage to the overall economy, the long lasting changes that will take place which impact freedom of movement, etc., etc. In retrospect this will be marked as the week we cut off our heads trying to prevent a headache. Save the pearl clutching feigned outrage, we're beyond that child like reaction. Brave new world is upon us, and what we used to have, a free and prosperous country, will be nothing but a memory by years end."

------

Captain makes 2 observations...

If the market discounts future p/e ratios. (and I know it does.)
The market seems to be forecasting a contraction in economy due to business interruption and supply chain issues.)

The second one is more serious.
Govt uses every crisis to remove more freedom.
Captain warns we may be too late.
We have turned into a nation of sheep.
I hope the Captain is wrong... but I fear too many are now conditioned to want govt to herd us like sheep.

I remember reading about many Soviet Union people yearning for the old days when the govt told them what to do.
In my lifetime I never had to worry about it in the US.
Our thoughts were diverse. Our lefties were anti the man and anti the govt.
We loved freedom.

Now I do, because there is so much group think in this country.
Too many people really do not think for themselves.
I would rather people make wrong conclusions... then never make their own.
How quickly everyone just bent over and complied. Cancel your events, NOW. Yes sir. No group gathering over a 1000, no 500, make that 250. Yes sir. Run this way, no run that way. Yes sir. What we're seeing is the moral equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theater because someone sparked a joint. And now a national emergency is about to be declared and for what? 41 people dead over the course of 3 weeks. FOUR ONE. Wait until the numbers hit a whole three, dare I say four digits. It's be against the law to leave your fucking house. Leftist assholes think they're ready for what's coming. Useful idiots about to get a real eye opening on what oppression really looks like.

We're about to be martial lawd and no takers on the Russian conspiracy?
Don't need a Russian, we are doing this all on our own. Tipping point has been passed this week. Down she goes, the world you once knew that is. Won't be long before we're wishing for the days we had such "serious" problems like who can shit where was the topic.

You keep missing the point.

It is not the mortality rate.

2000 people infected right now. If people still went to events in large numbers then those numbers could reach 100,000 easily. The spread rate is exponential when compared with the flu.

The risk is the strain on the medical community for the large percentage that will have respiratory issues and have to miss work or school.

Sorry you want to steer it to some political argument about compliance with big brother but all these organizations have a responsibility for the health of their attendees. 2 NBA players got it, you dont think it would spread to all the players and then the fans in a week? Did the NCAA have to wait until a basketball player got it? Premiere League has 3 cases and decided to pause.

Social spreading is real and 2000 cases is just this week. It will be 5 times that by next month and that is WITH cancellations.

what the fuck are you babbling about? did you meet your accountants again? taxes are getting to you?
You're about to get educated on what I'm rambling about. Watch your government at work. Watch how your life changes over the next few weeks, changes that will not be easily unwound when the virus passes. No time for petty keyboard wars anymore. We unite, or we die under the boot.

dude, we gave up all of those freedoms the moment we got bank accounts, online identities, credit cards, social media accounts and .... you are delusional if you think we are not already under the boot.

With all due respect, I'm not missing the point. The virus needs to run it's course. So we're all going to hole up for 2-4 weeks. Then what? Is the virus going to disappear like some fart in the wind? No. Will there be some magic cure? No. Whatever dip there is in the spread due to the "social distancing" will go right back up when people go back out. Just how long are we supposed to stay locked in our homes? People will die from this, probably 100K plus, could push 200,000. Yes, every death a tragic one, but tens of millions of lives will be economically destroyed in the process of trying to save these people who are still going to be at risk because the virus isn't going away anytime soon, nor will there be a vaccine. Eventually we will have to accept one more virus on the planet, one that mutates and recurs every single year, and it will be about 3-5 times as deadly as the seasonal flu. That is and will be a fact of life and destroying a country trying to prevent it is a fools errand and that is the point.
