I will wear a mask because I belong to the high risk 2% group. Anyone else, the 98% of people who are healthy and below 60 years of age should go about their business or stay home and not get paid. No business will pay you to bum around. Only an idiot cannot see, as long as countries the world over have opened, there are less infections and deaths. Only extreme liberal media promoting panic and hysteria to destroy the US economy. Those countries that still have their countries pretty much shutdown will suffer the most. They will not recover in 5 years, maybe, 10 years, while their citizens suffer? WHO and CDC has been lying for sometime. Dr. Fauci himself said there will not be a 2nd wave. He also, lied about the masks. Masks do help to control viruses. Look only at Japan and South Korea where the infections and death rates are very low compared to most countries. Only difference is that most people wear masks over in those countries. Whether you wear or not wear a mask should be your decision.

120K dead minus 60K in nursing homes equals 60K dead. Subtract another 75% of the very old and sickly leaves 15K dead since March 1st. Not exactly an extinction level event. Maybe your boogeyman is sick with the Covid.
The huge downside to masks is it deprives your body of oxygen that it needs. For short periods where you are in a high risk group with huge crowds, a mask makes sense. Wearing it for short periods of time will give you a measure of protection if you have to go to the grocery store or mall or the hospital for tests.
It's become very apparent that a significant number of frequent posters on this P&R are just dumb as fuck and discussing anything with them is a waste of time. I'm not even sure that highlighting why their ideas are flawed even matters. It's reminding me of the trading discussions early in the bull market. So many obnoxious, overly confident posters who would jump in and dismiss well thought ideas on market direction and discuss their latest short strategy on the SPX. Given enough time, their ideas were totally skewered by reality, so much so some had to leave the site or start a new account on here.
Unfortunately, getting this virus wrong has more serious repercussions for everyone. My hope is that Canada can keep the border closed to Americans long past the point where this silliness is tamed. If Americans want to go down this road, they take the risk and have to deal with the consequences. Like electing Trump, it was not hard to see significant risks existed well ahead of time.
Guess we'll all see I'm still optimistic that things will be back to normal within a year despite this silliness. It does however temper my short term stock market outlook.

And remember, we have the WORST long term care death rate due to civid in the western world. Difference is, we care about that outcome whereas you don't. We were told millions would die. They didn't, not even close. All projections were wrong, REALLY wrong. Half the deaths were caused by gross incompetence, most all of them occurring in democratic states. These are indisputable facts.
You were told millions might die if a lock down didn't occur. The fact you couldn't understand what was said is on you. And bringing up "democratic states" discussing a virus just helps highlight the stupidity of your thought processes.

Democrat extreme liberals caused the deaths of helpless Seniors in convalescent homes by bringing in Corona Virus infected patients to those convalescent homes. New York had the Javits Center with 2,910 beds yet, Andrew Cuomo chose to send the Corona Virus patients to the convalescent homes resulting in the deaths of helpless Seniors? Their families should hire good lawyers and sue New York for billions of dollars. That does not even include, De Blasio telling New Yorkers to go about their business with the Corona Virus in full strength.
