Can you enlighten me as to why a trader should look into the
ZC N11/Z11/Z12 butterfly spread instead of the N11/Z11 spread?

My charts tell me that the N11/Z11 spread is a better set up. I am still long after rolling out of H11/Z11.

Also, do you have an opinion as to whether there will a shortage of U11 corn?

Thanks!

Fields are wet. Planting will be late. U will be a "old crop" this year.

too early to analyze the field. Most field will be planted in early May

To Grain Spread Traders!! Get ready to rumble!!!! 60% of chances this could be the tight supply year. But, you never know till mid summer.

Don't forget the famous quote: It is not what you plant, it is what you grow.

Corn is catching up with $14 beans for now.

Look out on the following spead

cz11/cz12
cn11/cz11
sx11/sx12

N/Z corn trading between 1.20 and 1.30 for most of the past two weeks with most analysts calling for $8.00 + N corn. However, K wheat actually less than k corn, have not seen that since 1996. Wheat will displace some corn in feed rations and affect N/Z corn , question is how much ? Wheat displacing corn should help reduce wheat stocks at least to some extent.

Don't like those old crop spreads although it is getting fairly wide. Look back at what happened this past year, not much opportunity, as I mentioned previously I think this is because of the composition of the open interest. Having said that, at 25 cents there probably isn't much risk.

z11/z12 spread took profit last month. Awaiting to go back in again if the opportunity is given based on the the corn/beans ratio
