Cooltraderdude's TopstepTrader Combine (daily trade report and journal)

Quote from Maverick74:

No attitude here Don, just answering your question. This IS for REAL money. And you DO PAY to play. Top prize is a 1.5 million dollar notional funded account. So the similarities are the same. Pay to enter. If you qualify, play with real money. Get paid with real money. Don, I'm not stupid. I specifically used this analogy to help you understand. Don, if you simply went to their website, all these "questions" you seem to have would be answered in 5 minutes. If you are smart enough to run a JBO, I think you are smart enough to read the content on their website.

Here is the link if you need it:

OK, I think I get it, reminds of what Bob Kantor did back in the day. Have fun with it, and I hope everyone does well.

Don :)

Don, wasn't trying to bite your head off. Their website is one of the more transparent sites out there. I used the poker analogy just for you Don. I thought it would help. BTW Don, almost all my buddies that go out to Vegas to play poker play the satellites for the exact same reason guys do this combine. A few of my friends got free tickets into the WSOP. Still 10k entry right?

But no, they stated earlier, once you go "live", they do not make money on the commish.

Commission are too high for a professional shop, you can get cheaper than $2.5 RT excluding exchange fees ,what about discounts for high volume ?

When you make +$30K in profits you get member rate exchange fees BUT still pay $2.5 RT , doesn't make sense ....

paying higher then retail commissions is not smart , you pay to play

The firm has to make some money on the commission side from it's traders

your not going to make much money on splitting pnl with only a handful of profitable live accounts

ptp can earn more money on the commission side then some of the stock prop firms
If they can get enough breakeven traders doing some decent volume

If I was backing traders I would charge twice what they are. When I was backed in NY trading equities back in the day I was paying 1.7 cents per share. That's correct, $17 per 1000 shares. You know why they charged those rates? Because most guys they backed lost money. So we can do this two ways. Back yourself and get dirt cheap rates, or lay off your risk on someone else and let them charge you more.

I think we both know there is not much p&l to be found out there. This entire industry is run on commish. Has been for 30 years.

And now you say the entire business is run on commissions :D

No, TST does not mark up commissions. They can't by law. The backer I have no idea. You do understand that TST is not the backer right? I "believe" the backer is Patak Trading Partners. Or at least that is the entity where the backer is. PTK and TST are two separate entities. Not trying to be a dick, but this was explained in detail on these threads. I know the threads ran long and many guys are not bothering to read them. But TST is a recruiting firm. They have no capacity to earn a rake on the commish.

we are talking about commisisons on futures

good money to be made at $ 5.00 per r/t for ptp

when your trading prop you would think your going to get rock bottom rates with giving up a split of profits , not happening

at $ 5.00 r/t on cme contracts , your going to churn yourself to death if your trading for ticks

these guys should be paying $ 2.00 r/t for a prop model , a fair deal

you pay more then retail prices in a prop model , that is insane

Yes, I have not read everything, I supposed that TST got some part of the commissions...
