Also when do they cast their electoral votes then? DO they wait until midnight when all the polls close nationwide so they can tune in to CNN and Fox and see who has more popular votes and the election is probably already decided anyway just to symbolically throw their electoral votes at a winner or loser for nothing?
The constitution sets forth when the Electoral College meets for the electoral college representatives to cast their votes. Its about six weeks after the november vote as I recall.
And they dont actually meet together. It's more like they all agree to meet and do their thing in their respective states on that day and then their certified results are sent to Congress or something like that. It's complicated.
