Conservative Mind Set & Conspiracy Theories

you probably don't even pay the fine...
you should double check this... but I read they will only be able to collect the fine out of tax refunds.

I do not have that option with a wife and four kids in my opinion... but if I were in my 20s... or early 30s there is no way I would be buying obamacare, unless I had substantial assets.

Quote from Max E. Pad:

Bullshit the number of people who could afford insurance who simply chose not to pay, and ended up needing it was very small, now young people like myself who dont need insurance can simply eat the fine and buy insurance if something catastrophic happens. I havent been to doctor in 10 years why would i pay 500+ a month for insurance when i can just pay a 95$ fine? As it stood before i could have just bought a plan with a 30k deductible for less than a hundred bucks a month.

If you take the 500 a month i would be wasting on healthcare, and i go for 10 years without it, and instead invest and make an average return of 20% per year it turns into 230k, i think ill take my chances and pay the fine for now, thx.

Plus along with those people you are now going to have all the people with preexisting conditions added to the roles, as well as morbidly obese people, and smokers, who can no longer be charged more even though they choose to live a shitty lifestyle.

You have no clue what is coming because you have never lived in a government run healthcare system. In canada the average wait time for an MRI is 17 weeks in the U.S. you can get in right away.

My good friend just died of leukemia and when he got sick they couldnt even do the treatment in canada, they had to send him to seattle, the government covered his treatment but then he had to stay in quarantine while his bone marrow transplant took cause they were putting him on drugs to kill his immune system so it wouldnt block it. The cost to stay in quarantine was 1000 dollars a day and the government wouldnt cover it, he ended up having to sell his business, and he came home to canada early when he ran out of money, and ended up catching pnemonia and dying.

Inevitably what is going to happen in the states with 30 million more people insured is we are going to have a 2 tier healthcare system, 1 for the top 5 percent where there will be little to no wait time at a much higher price, where you will need much more expensive healt insurance in order to have access to those doctors.

And one tier for the other 95% of the country where wait times are going to be twice as long, and the government is going to deem what is and isnt necessary, the responsible middle class people who always followed the rules and paid their bills are going to see their healthcare coverage destroyed, and they are going to have to pay up to subsidise the leeches and unhealthy people.

Sure some people are getting screwed with the present healthcare system, and i feel for those people but all obamacare does is shift around the people who get screwed, now the government has decided i should get screwed instead of the person with the pre existing condition, or the person who was too lazy to work and pay for their healthcare.

Why if it wasnt fair for the person with the pre existing condition to have to pay more for healthcare is it now all of a sudden fair to stick me with his tab? All obamacare does is change whose paying.

I have an uncle who needed a new hip and couldnt walk without it, he is 60 years old, because the government deemed it non essential it took them a year and a half to give him the operation, and in the mean time he rolled through most of his life savings because he was a contractor and he couldnt work until he got a new hip.

Great post Max. Big Arrow should read and re-read it a few times until those points stick in his head.

Sadly, he will think that it's another partisan attack on the flaws of this system.

Max is a liar denner you know that. Have him post proof of his fictional $500 premium bronze, silver and gold plans. it's that much for me and I'm not a young guy. You guys base all your emotional arguments over antedotal stories. Post actual prices max and for gods sake dry your eyes and quit crying.

it's anecdotal.. and if you start trading it's "lose", not "loose"... that "loose" thing is everywhere, I try and I try but it's still everywhere...

Big arrow is incapable of critical thought as he has already admitted that the decades he has spent on his hands and knees (his favourite position) in the hot texas sun putting nails through shingles has fried what little brain he had to begin with.

My anecdotal story involves 25 years of work in the field as a construction contractor...So yes my story is anecdotal...

You pay $500 per month just to get to that $6300 or higher deductable. In other words, you've got an expensive catastrophic policy. It's a shit deal.

Let's put this thing in perspective. I know that personally my insurance policy had huge price jumps from around 2009 onward. It wasn't just my age, as I read the same stories on here and amongst people I know. So basically, we had huge cost escalation in the years PRIOR to this law and now we are seeing HUGE price increases on top of those huge price increases.

And let's not forget that prior to 2009, alot of people found health insurance unaffordable. So this law does NOTHING to address those concerns and adds on sky high premiums and laughable deductables to boot...And that's just for starters; we haven't even addressed the nuts and bolts of the implementation of all of this.

You would have alot more credability if you would join some of your fellow liberals in calling this thing a boondoggle. It's nothing less than a sell-out to insurance cos. who are looking to pounce on the millions of victims forced into these exchanges and/or new policies with tons of people overpaying to subsidize the politically favored class.

+1

The issue from day one was cost. The reason anyone in this country who wanted healthcare but couldn't get it was due to either cost or the pre-existing which also had to deal with cost indirectly. Obamacare raises costs across the board. It disguises the cost for the people who qualify for the subsidies by pushing it on to those who don't qualify for it. I mean when you have people like Dylan Rattigan, an ultra liberal, lash out at the Pres over Obamacare when his costs spiked, you know there is something wrong. People like bigarrow and convertibility are not really trying to defend obamacare, but the President. They have a blind allegiance. They have to know what a disaster this and what it will continue to be. And yes, going forward we will have a two tiered system. An excellent one for the top 1% to 5% and a crap one for the other 95%. And not only will it be crap, but it will be crap we drastically over pay for. Now that's change you can believe in.

Exactly.

The UN-Affordable Health Care <s>Act</s> Tax was ostensibly passed to lower health care costs/insurance premiums and allow the uninsured to join the insured. So far insurance costs have increased dramatically almost across the board and far FAR more have lost their insurance than the numbers of previously uninsured who have gained coverage. For a net loss in those insured.

By definition O-Bomb-a-Care has already failed - miserably. CAN it be fixed?
Sure, theoretically. But when is the last time Washington/Congress actually fixed a problem? They do not provide solutions, they create fiascoes. Then claim it's not working because we're just not spending enough money yet. Washington measures it's federal program's success in terms of budget size.
NOT in terms of actual measurable progress.

People like you and I have been saying for several years now this was going to be a cluster fuck. And we were right. Not that it was particularly difficult to predict. Just look at Washington's history over the last 100 years or so.

Dang it I thought it was wrong but spell check didn't flag it, what's bad is I'd just looked up the correct spelling yesterday. Lose and loose I don't have a problem with. When I'm typing fast on a keyboard "they're" comes out "there" must be a subconscious thing.
