Concealed Carry

Congrats on your new Glock, nothing quite like shooting .45 ACP, and I much prefer the smoother recoil pulse over the snappier .40 S&W. Your normal capacity is 6+1 but there are extensions made exclusively for the G36 mags that give you a little more purchase on the grip and add 1 round. Since studies have shown the average police shooting involves less than three rounds fired per shooter. I'm more inclined to just carry an extra mag than do anything to the gun that will increase size/decrease it's concealability. I will probably add a laser sight to it though. I saw where they make them to replace the recoil spring tube. Which I should like better than the laser grips on my Colt. As my trigger finger sometimes blocks the beam, when I don't have my finger on the trigger.

In fact my primary reason for the purchase was I miss not having iron sights. My Colt New Agent has none.

Good points;
but watch out for a Bank of America robbery, they seem to really shoot that place up, at least in CA.

I like those laser lights, much better than a tazor;
a bit weak in full sunlight, but @ close range, dont really need any sights. My[ laser] fit on the barrel, looked cool ,2. If one sees trouble in time, i like a scoped 30-06 with deer loads/expanding mushroom or 12 gauge shotgun.....{On 12 gauge; I keep the fed 3 shot waterfowl plug in, usually }

It's tough to walk around day to day prepared for every contingency.

In fact if I was prepared for or knowingly on my way to a BoA type shootout. I wouldn't be taking a small pistol with me in the first place. :)

Yea I just had to click on this thread a few weeks ago. Bought a Glock 26 for CCW and now I'm thinking about trading in my Ruger Super Blackhawk for a Glock .45 cal. for home protection. That 36 looks sweet though, didn't realize it was so thin.

That's my #1 rifle of choice for battle. The military was dumb to dump it in the late 60's. Not surprisingly, this rifle is still used by special operations units.

Yep, newer/different doesn't always mean better.
 
The little lady at the range during a firearms class she attended recently, with the Glock. Which she found to be to big for her hands and too much recoil to be comfortable for her. She borrowed another classmates .22 and reportedly was a dead eye dick with it.

I took a pistol shooting class today. Although I've been shooting for over 40 years I've never had any formal training to speak of. Given my experience the instructor said I could skip the "basic" glass and start with the tactical pistol class though he suggested otherwise. I set aside my ego and did the basic glass.
I didn't learn anything about operation or safety I didn't already know. But most of the live fire was tactical/self defense oriented and included things I've never or rarely ever practiced with live ammo. Examples being rapid firing, two shots center mass followed by one to the head, tactical and combat reloading and duel assailants.

Despite being outdoors in the heat for six hours I really enjoyed it. I'm going to take the tactical pistol class as soon as the temps start to moderate a bit.

On the qualification shooting I scored 496 out of a possible 500 on a man size silhouette target from three different ranges.





(and no, I'm not looking in the mirror saying: "You talking to me?")
