Concealed Carry

Quote from LEAPup:

I'm in the gun shine state.

As for NYC, I hear cops from other areas have to have written permission just to carry their duty weapons concealed while in the city.

Looks like NYPD has to "decide" whether or not you need to be allowed to carry a concealed weapon from this source: http://www.ehow.com/info_8764349_concealed-carry-laws-new-york.html

I'd say don't count on it unless you're in a high risk profession.

haha yes.

There is a sign near my home in NV that states something on the order of, "please don't discharge your firearms near homes"

Knife laws in NYC prohibit any folder over 4", IIRC.

Strider SMF titanium framelock in 3V steel. I own a few of these in various configs:

I like that knife

I'm a knife nut too - mostly skinners..., with a few Old Timers & Schrades thrown in the mix

I won't carry a single-stack. It forces access to a second mag. I love 1911s and own a Les Baer SRP. It's very accurate but low capacity and it's a bit finicky. I've had feed-failures with it.

I've owned Glock 9s in the past and never had a single failure to go bang. Not once in perhaps 3000 rounds. LEAPs 1911 Sig looks awesome, however.

You really should look into the Sig Scorpion. I weighed out the Scorpion vs a Kimber Warrior, and I'm glad I went with the Sig. Don't get me wrong. The Kimber Warrior is a great 1911, but damned near every guy I know with one has had to send it back over stove-piping issues.

The Sig functions like a sewing machine, is accurate, and is about $300 less than the Kimber Desert Warrior. Again, I love Kimbers, but they've got a reputation for having to be sent back at least once to fix the stove-piping problem. After that, they're amazing 1911's.

And you're obviously smarter than the average bear. Striders are top notch knives! Here in FL, switchblades are legal if under a certain length. I own numerous Microtech's as well as others, but a Strider is usually my choice of carry knife besides the believe it or not, Spyderco.

Last, you can usually find some great deals on Striders here from time to time: http://www.jerzeedevil.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/20-Knives-For-Sale-For-Trade

Hope that helps.:)

I love Spydies. I have an S90V Para2 and the Southard flipper in 204P. I have an older Scarab too.

RE 1911A1: I have a US Army 1941 1911 with holster I got from my father. He said Chesty Puller himself killed Japs with it. Not really! :D

It still shoots just fine...

Looks a lot like this:

My brother in law has one

Too big/ bulky/ heavy for carry

Shooting 45 – kicks and has a harsh recoil (even by my standards)

Shooting 410 – for killing snakes works fine.., for stopping bigger things, I’m not so sure about – probably just make them mad(der)

The shot pattern disperses pretty quickly

Suppose you could use buck or slugs

==================================

Imo, it tries to be too many things, yet not really good at any

Does make for a good conservation piece

Anyone with experience with the Taurus Judge?

Opinions please. Thank you.

Thanks for the intel RN. They promote it as an anti carjacking weapon---- I imagine a 410 to the face at close range would be rather devastating-- even with birdshot.

I wingshot doves with a .22 birdshot as a kid but never actually shot a 410.

Any .22 as a carry weapon is useless. Hell, as any use other than a varmint killer or mob style killing (into the back of the skull), a .22 handgun is worthless. Just my opinion. If you live in colder climates, it's even more worthless. On a winter day, a .22 probably won't even pierce thick layers of jacket and clothing.
