Theres a variety of antechinus, its like a shrew............

Totally solitary, except for mating.
If two males meet each other, they fight to the death.
If a male finds a female with babies, it kills them.
And after mating, the male promptly dies from exhaustion.
Further, the females often mate again.
The species isnt doing that great.
Is competition really that good?

Quote from Burtakus:

Food for thought; Which is the only species on the planet that violates natures rule of survival of the fittest. Not only do they violate this rule, but they exceedingly do everything possible to ensure that the least fit survive.

Yeah, yeah, humans.

Problem is, the misuse of darwins terminology in this context, as it so frequently is.
It never refered to "fittest", like a track athlete, nor fittest like a dominant lion, nor fittest in the sense of dominating other species, or being on top of the food chain.

Darwin meant "fitting" in better with an environment, "fitting" an ecological niche, adaptability to change ,"fitting" different envoronments, and being around for the long haul due to these measures, potentially, dare i say it, "evolving" as a species, and as a solid stayer, a competitor with its own niche, in an ecosystem.

Humans have failed all these measures, sure.

Humanity isnt "fitting" an environment , (ie survival of fittest) its more like curve fitting.

Unless you were talking about antechinus.

:D

human beings are social. they cannot exist without
contact to others of the same kind. thus, they can
do without competition, yet are completely unable
to do without cooperation.

everything else is male dumbness.

which is the only species that is able to adapt to each
and every environment? which is the species that can
even change its surroundings to a very large extent?
which is the only species that developed their brain to
mathematics, science, religion, art ...?

maybe the answer to all these questions has some
correlation to the fact that we do not slaughter each
other in our everyday hunt for food?

sitting at a keyboard, using technology that was developed
by some guys that most likely would not survive a
mild winter without heating, someone is calling
darwin. not convincing.

I'm prepared to take that chance.
no, you are not. you are sitting behind a screen, the
heater turned on, with some coffee in reach. that is
a little different.

Gee, and i had this mental image of someone hunched over a toughbook, next to a portable satellite dish somewhere in the ozarks, wearing a bearskin and moccassins............

munching away on homemade deer jerky ,
sipping moonshine from a yeti skull in between searching for secure proxy connections to bermuda, british virgin islands and tunisia, whilst wondering if that rustling in the bushes was something you could eat...........
or make into moonshine........or a federal agent!

Im afraid-im very afraid!
