I think we are moving away from the subject. University degrees are valuable to be a trader?
That's pretty self-evident if you look at what percentage of those who make their living in the finance industry who don't have a college degree, especially those who have started in the last decade. Hint, it's a vanishingly small number.I think we are moving away from the subject. University degrees are valuable to be a trader?
Fact check: the most an under grad college student can borrow is 27,500.-- TOTAL, for all 4 yrs .Bekim,
Only an irresponsible idot gets a $300K loan for a 4 year college degree.
If a person did not get a full or half paid scholarship from a university, then that person needs to pick a cheap college to attend. Or, go to 2 year community college, then transfer to university for 2 years.
There is no need for a person to have $300K in student loan unless a doctor.
Again, just because you start a business does not guarantee you will be a millionaire. A person better have a good idea and extreme passion for a good business these days.
Really ?Collage is good if you want to spend your life working for someone else
Do you or anyone else posting here really want to compare the current income, lifestyle, real and investable assets and opportunities created for future generations between those who went to college (even taking on debt) and those who don't ???There is knowledge and there is education. nowadays knowledge is almost free, one can watch full MIT curses online and such. I estimate about 1/3rd of American students shouldn't be in college at all. But if you are a HS counselor and advise a technical school you can get fired for that...

specifically for traders is college worthwhile or a waste of time and money?
a lot of 'trading' jobs is computer programming and trading automation ,and you need school to learn to program or 4 years of computer science. and no --not everyone can pass the exams in computer science.
yeah it's a waste of money for some people.
Do you or anyone else posting here really want to compare the current income,
Can you quote a percentage how many college educated actually using his/her degree? I bet at least 1/3rd doesn't. So going to college is a casino for a huge %. And not a cheap one. I am not saying don't go if you wanna be a doctor or lawyer, but if you just want to spend time on women's studies....You can go to the library, aka internet.
Personally I don't care if one wants to party for 4 years to end up in 50+K in debt. But maybe society should care...
4 years isn't enough time to learn everything in engineering or medicine or even law.
and no it's not a waste of money. it's essential to the economy that there are competent 'workers' or talent.
