When I see things like this, it makes me really glad that I live in the US. The 1st Amendment produces some unsavory results at times, but freedom matters more than feelings. I certainly don't want someone else deciding what is or isn't hate speech and what I can or can't say.

There are restrictions in the U.S. It's called decorum.

Try saying anything to a Judge on the bench. To your boss if you have one. Try talking loudly in a theater. In a grocery store. In a library. In a church. In a hotel lobby. In front of a business. Etc. Etc. Etc.

TV is restricted. Movies are restricted.

Free speech doesn't mean willy-nilly, say whatever the fuck, whenever the fuck, and wherever the fuck.

2. You can't disrupt a courtroom.
3. You can't endanger someone else's life by yelling "fire" in a crowd.
4. Private businesses can throw you out if they don't like what you say.
5. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences. You can be fired for saying something offensive.

All that being said, our freedom of speech is pretty much unparalleled. I couldn't imagine living in a country like Canada where you could be arrested for using the wrong pronouns...
