- Dr. Anthony Fauci said in a CNBC interview on Friday that extended lockdowns could cause "irreparable damage."
- "We can't stay locked down for such a considerable period of time that you might do irreparable damage and have unintended consequences, including consequences for health," Fauci said.
- Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told the Senate earlier this week that there was a risk of "permanent damage" to the economy if states kept strict restrictions in place.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious-disease expert, said on Friday that extended lockdowns could cause "irreparable" harm and worse health outcomes.

Where was that... when we needed it 2 months ago for the low risk group.
Virtually nothing has changed since we became aware that the hospitals outside of a few clusters were so empty they were shutting down floors and laying off people or reducing hours.
There has been nothing accomplished by locking down the low risk groups after the first 2 weeks.
We still face a second wave.
We don't have a vaccine.
We did not acquire much new immunity.
We have harmed millions financially, mentally and health wise.
For no scientific reason.

Note...
But... I will say Fauci has done one good thing.
The doomers have lost their leverage now.
Fauci will be seen as defecting but supporting smart measures.
Now the argument will be about the measures. We can be open or we can be closed like CA.
He is a political man... switching teams at the perfect time for maximum economic destruction just as the tide on the shutdown is turning due to science and people forming a coalition against the doomers.
He has timed is defection perfectly to get ahead of the crazy doomers yet... his words... are like a horoscope. Both sides can find something to support their side.
I am very very impressed with his timing... and his perfectly useless statement. Perfect politics.
