i have to agree with most of that (see options007 - it aint hard)
BUT....
1/ the death of young americans was sold on wmds. NOT removing a little tinker from power and NOT for oil.
2/ what about the average iraqi citizen? they are the pawns in all of this. they never asked saddam to be a wanker - just like they never asked americans & brits to demolish their infrastructure, kill their family or take away their livelihoods.
polls show that the average iraqi sees his life as being significantly worse since the invasion than under saddam.
wtf has this got to do with tookie anyway??

1) It was thought by most informaed persons both inside the US (both political parties) and outside the US that Saddam either had WMDs or was developing them. Had he played it straight with the UN then we have had the possibility of knowing that WMDs or rograms to develop them were not present in Iraq. However he played the UN and the world for a decade and since the UN wasn't going to jack shit about (many top countries were taking personal bribes from Saddam not to) the US stepped up to the plate. Yes no WMDs were found so in hindsight that reason for war turned out incorrect. Bush also stated that Removing Saddam from power was a war objective. And he was successful in that. I'll grant you that your first statement is 25% correct.
2) I agree that unfortunatly the average Iraqi citizen is the pawn in the game. They are now suffering for the mistakes of Saddam. I read a recent statement some where (I forget sice I did not think I would need the information in a discussion later) that while the majority of Iraqis do not approve of the presence of American troops soemething like 82% belive that their future will be betterr now than when Saddam was in power. The Iraqi citizens have a lot of repair to not only their infrastructure but the way of thinking and the belief that they can make a difference in the outcome of their country now instead of it being dictated to them. Some will get it before others and some will never get it. Those of catch on quicker will most likely be the ones who suceed the quickest. It is much like it is here in the US. Those that believe they can get ahead and have a say in their lives and actually practice what they belive usually are the most successful. Sometimes you must sacrifice a little to gain a lot. In this case the Iraqis are sacrificaing quite a bit to gain more than they or most others can comprehend.
