CL Redux

No doubt.

"Fake" break below the 50% level, but snapped back up.

Possible consolidation here before a new push to the highs? Or may we actually roll over after all...

Using a min of 40c to define each swing....

Avg intraday swing in CL is 50-70 ticks , avg number of swings greater than 40 cents is usually 7-12 ,

So if one is trading intraday one might think about taking profits or half off once you're 50+ ticks in profit.

Typically 1 in 5 swings greater than 40cents is a dollar or more runner.

just some stats that may help

My 2 cents

Every market out there has an oscilatory tendancy laid out before all particiapants eyes. The beauty for the small player is that they can play these oscillations :)

Good stuff, Zr1.

As you may already know, I already do collect statistics of the daily swings among other metrics. It is definitely helpful in day trading. :)

Today:

A total of 11 swings using a 40-cent filter.

Total cents offered as the sum of the up and down swings - 790 cents.

Average swing - 72 cents.

Maximum swing - 136 cents.

Minimum swing - 43 cents.

Credit and huge thanks go to Cheese for this simple, but very powerful approach to measuring the market. :)

Z,

Are you measuring swings by using the MACD? Or by price making either a higher/lower swing than previous swing? Or is it a minimum amount of price movement?

*edit - sorry, just saw your post above about 40c being the min. Thanks for posting though!

Thanks Zr1. I was trying to capture multiple legs with a single trade. Works well when the entry is early. Today I got in way after the initial move and shouldn't be greedy.
