CL Redux

ok well just saw within a period of 1 min 2000 volume moved it 30 ticks down, But what if I offered boom all at once 3000 at market? (not me but a big fish)

I supposed you would take out whatever was sitting there but you would cause a good sized flush I would imagine at least to the point where everyone would have their buy stops. If we get back up to 4.90I'll try it :p

Haha yeah, reason I asked is because In "trader" ducumentary with paul tudor jones, he is yelling 3000 at market so I'm just wondering how big a flush that would do , I suppose it depends on time of day too but just wondering because I don't have any floor or "in house" experiance just lots and lots of screentime :)

Interesting that these figures can be so different from the other ones last night which showed an increase of, I believe it was, 4.4 Bbl.

The "3000 at market" in the video was relating to S&P futures, not oil. Also it wasn't at market but at a price.

Very big paper orders that come in are at a price, v rare that they come in at market. In fact, i can't even recall that happening. If they do, liquidity would just dry up as other orders are pulled since it looks like someone is in trouble and is trying to exit a position.

Crude oil traders,

Is the pit session from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM recognized as the official trading day time window?

Volume seems to start picking up an hour prior to the pit open. I`m trying to conduct some historical studies and not 100% sure how much data to include.

Thanks.

You can just look at the volume and the PA. Both increase at the open and can decrease after the close (but not necessarily after the close) which are the times you've indicated. Good luck with your studies.
