CL Redux

Quote from NoDoji:

It wasn't so much exiting b/e (there was a lot of buying strength at that point), but it was that spd said, "If the low @ 82.64 is taken out Id consider going short." and I had that same thought

Our trading styles are very similar, and the buying pressure was very strong. My thought was most of the buying pressure was "asswipes" chasing the inventory reaction and much of it wasnt genuine. I would have taken that short as a fade of a big move and probably had tight profit target (at least for my first contract), its hard to say in hindsight, especially since I closed my trading platform and went to workout a few minutes after I made that post. I havent looked at today's action after that point yet, probably wont til tomorrow morning.

Maybe that trade would have been profitable, but Im still glad I took today off. My head was/is a wreck and Im sure I would have had some WTFYOUIDIOT moments as I watched my stops get taken out. Inventory days can be a bitch to trade regardless, even with crystal clear focus.

Anyways, I had a great workout and some drinks with some good friends tonight should help me settle down. I plan on hitting it hard tomorrow. I'll put my gameplan together in the premarket hours.

BTW making money is one thing; learning how to control your loss is another. I believe the latter is far more important than the former. That is, you really can't make money unless you know how to (properly) lose money. Just my utterly worthless 2-cents.

This is church right here.

LOL thanks, Schizo called em all asswipes in an earlier post and that made me lol. Guess I should give him proper credit.

But thanks!

Even though it was just a sim trade (yeah, that short @ 82.77 with the really nice reversal signal that I was waiting for after the shallower breakout thru highs), there is something so very very sad about taking $9 of a $3920 move.

It's obvious to me that you are trading "scared money" and that you do not fully accept the risk inherent in trading 2 CL at a time. Maybe the contract is too big for your account?.

Nothing wrong with your analysis. imo.

Maybe a 5000 volume chart would help you see stuff clearer?. Sometimes stuff happens too fast for a 5' chart.

And Schiz is our Profit?

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

lol.

Its an absolute truth of trading though. It wasnt until I developed a real edge that I realized I didnt have to sit through unecessary 0.35 losses, now I can be proven wrong much sooner and exit. This crazy CL bitch will occasionally be a real sweetheart and give you an opportunity to risk as little as 0.12 or .015 to make (a really quick) 0.30. Not always, but sometimes :p

NoD I belive our edges are basically one in the same, you are just gun shy. You know what your set-ups are, and you know when they become invalid.

Yes, I am. A while back I really wanted to trade AAPL, AMZN and POT, but was very gun shy, because they're quite volatile and they always have a spread to deal with. I finally went into sim and practiced trading them and built up my confidence, and then really hit the ground running with them.

I do believe I will break through my mental block and make this happen.

why not drop down to 1 car and trade a single lot for 2 weeks. I often do this when I go thru a losing streak (like now) and then earn the right to trade more size. I usually set a dollar amount that I must clear before adding another contract.

regardless of how much i make i still can't trade more than 4 contracts. every time i get up to 4 contracts my emotions change and i'll do something strange and next thing you know i'm trading 1 contract.

so... i guess i have a mental block too!

Now, c'mon, cut it out! :D

Profit = Prophet (LOLOL!!!)

If we can have another day like today, I swear I'll be able to karate chop my way across the bloody ocean like Papa Moses. Sure damn felt like 2008 all over again!
