Civil discourse on gun control

Of course they won't propose the full confiscation agenda immediately. They'll do it gradually, just like they did with the whole gay agenda. In the space of Obama's two terms, we went from Obama himself not endorsing gay marriage to the courts insisting that there was a constitutional obligation to let transgender people serve in the military.

And don't think for a second the police won't enforce a ban. Maybe in Buttcrack, Utah they won't, but there are thousands of Sheriff Israel's out there, ready to go after guns the same way they trampelled our rights in the War on Drugs.

The police in NY State don't enforce the SAFE Act.

And make the military pay for transgender surgery.

There are plenty of Sheriff Israels but there are also LEOs -- even in New York -- who are not like that:

Sheriff Says He Won’t Enforce N.Y. Gun Control Law And Wins Reelection

There are also far more supporters of the Second Amendment who would defend their Constitutional rights with their firearms than there are Sheriff Israels, should a confiscation occur. We've gotten soft but we're not Canada or Australia yet.

How do you confiscate something that is so widely available and isn't tracked by any list anywhere?

You can't. But that wouldn't necessarily stop leftists from trying. I should have written "attempt at a confiscation."

And if there was one, not only would it stop after enough LEOs were shot (I remember police union officials voicing this concern on talk radio when enforcement of NY SAFE was being discussed), but many owners of firearms that were registered would simply say they were recently "stolen."

Here's a study on school shootings that was released on Monday:

University Study: Schools safer than in the 90s, and school shootings not more common

So I have to admit being surprised at this, but I guess I shouldn't considering the media and social media postings every time there is an incident. The one thing I'd say on the chart showing

is that this is kinda like saying debt as a percentage of GDP hasn't gone up much. Students killed Per Million can easily show a down trend if there are simply a lot more students in the population.

I don't even remember the 1989 event listed below, despite the fact I was in high school right around then.
