Please don't tell me about what the tea party recognizes or does not. You are talking well outside your realm of familiarity. I have worked for a tea party organization on and off for some time, and am quite familiar with the organization. Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with where the tea party stands on this issue, from the "horse's mouth" so to speak:

In woolworths? No, the owners of woolworth's should decide who they will or will not serve, no one else. If woolworth's goes out of business as a result? Oh well... If they make a fortune as a result? Oh well... It's not your place, or the government's to decide woolworth's policy.

The universities and schools? The buses? Sure, those are public. If those black people were zoned for said schools, then they have every right to attend, regardless of race. I don't condone racially based discrimination by the government (against white people OR black people). Private people and entities? Those are none of the government's business...

The Tea Party will become a viable third party, and they should.

So, I cannot eat your burgers, because I am not your "kind", but you take federal currency, use public infrastructure to run your business, which I also pay into, but my dollar is not welcome at your burger joint. Maybe I heard you had great burgers and wanted to try one. Maybe my friend was "occidental"

The original premise is that you believe that business can do what they want, even if it curtails the liberty and pursuit of happiness of another, as long as the money if private.

Of course, I disagree, America has been down that road, and now you want to send us back???

I never said *I* would practice racial discrimination if I owned a burger joint. In fact I would not. That doesn't however mean that I think it's my right to denote the business practices of private business owners. If someone wanted to have a diner, bar, or club for only blacks I wouldn't deny them that right. Why should I? It's PRIVATE, i.e. none of my business.

Yes, the business uses federal currency (because these days, if they used gold instead, they could go to prison), and uses public infrastructure, which the taxes of that business or individual goes into paying for. But we're not talking about public property, we're talking about private property, private businesses, and private enterprise. And no, I don't believe government has any place in making the business decisions for private businesses.

Yes, I believe businesses should be able to select who they will or will not do business with, on any basis they so choose, not matter how good, bad, or silly you or I think it is. It's called freedom, and you have to take the good with the bad. It doesn't curtail the liberty of anyone, people are free to go do business with someone else who actually wants to do business with them.

Are you suggesting that people should be FORCED into doing business with people that they do not want to do business with, because the government has decided that they should have to? Really?

Are you suggesting that the government should be involved with making business decisions for private entities? Really?

U know, I get, philosophically, where you are coming from. Ur burger joint is hypothetical, get bring your point into bas relief, so I can refute it. But total autonomy will not work, it never has. It will be exploited. Now it is possible that in today's America, the market will punish this behavior, but I don't want to be in Idaho, on my way to Cali, and not able to refuel because they don't serve my kind/

No, but government has to provide a framework for operation. That is necessary. I don't want to be in a situation where a hospital will not serve after an assault, because they do not serve "my kind". This has happened in a more immature America, and yes, people did die because of it.
