When I first glanced at your post, I thought I read "if it's high-end enough." No kidding.
Coincidentally this resonates with me as I was eating a brown bread sandwich last week with just bread and ham, no mayo etc. I forgot my drink and was lazy to go back down the stairs.
After one bite got a little stuck I tried to clear it with another swallow.. Big mistake. The now larger bread-putty lump felt so close to blocking my airway I was afraid to breathe. I calmed my mind and just let it sit there for whatever air I had left and it slid down the right direction just in the nick of time.
I was quite shook at how such a trivial thing nearly took me out.
I thought I'd mastered the art

Scary, yes. I've done that with dry stuff. The risk is that you add fluids to "force it down" and then you're closing off the airway if you can't swallow it down. Doesn't matter how much your chew is the stuff is dry and large enough to block airway. Once it's past the eso-sphincter it's just uncomfortable but not dangerous per se.

One of my kids used to put everything he could find in his mouth when he was around 1-2 years old. We tried our best to get him to stop it and thought we had taken care of everything. Nope. One day he started chocking and my wife did the Heimlich maneuver on him, and it was not working. We were in a panic. Eventually she tried to put her hand down his mouth. She could feel something lodged in his throat. She kept fighting to get it out. When she finally did, we were amazed at what it was. He had broken a piece of the molding off between the floor and the wall and had swallowed it. Needless to say, we got rid of that molding.
LOL. Yeah, I used to take them after eating (still do) or else I would be too full to eat. And I for sure do not take that many anymore. I was overdoing it by a mile.
