Charging ahead to push electric cars

I retired from 35 years of autos here in Detroit. Electric cars have been tried many times in the past and been big failures. Some of the reasons are:
- Battery Temperature Conditions. Batteries have had a major problem when temperature varies outside of 40 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. One too cold or too hot night can strip battery packs of power the next day.
- Limited Horsepower. A drive in the mountains with battery power could leave you stranded. The horsepower to haul around 5 adults in a car is not yet available.
- High Battery replacement costs. When these batteries go a $4000 - $5000 replacement cost will scare any auto owner.
- High initial auto cost – The first electrics will cost over $40,000 a year. Not a vehicle you want to pay for to drive to the store and back once a week.

The hope is a hybrid gasoline and electric vehicle can overcome these problems. The auto industry sees these autos working in mild climates with flat terrains. I don't believe first year sales will be that high.

This is a great opportunity for B Ob to build hundreds more power stations so that everyone can charge up their cars/trucks overnight and get the unemployed off their fat arses

I posted this before and here I go again.

The first plane that I ever say was a world war one biplane. The second one was a zeplin. But when I was 22, I helped design a rocket powered aircraft designed to fly at hypersonic speeds. It was the x-15 and it did just that.

Why was this possible? Because the government wanted it. That's why.

Efficient electric cars will be possible too if the government wants them as bad as they wanted the x-15.

We have hardly scratched the surface on electric car research.

no one in power wants electric cars because:



1/ mass dislocation in a key employment sector. Millions of jobs world wide depend on extracting and burning fossil fuel.

2/ money. those who get elected need money. Those who own fossil fuel, have money. And they give money to those who they like to put in power

3/ loss of revenue for ever growing and bloated govt. bureaucracy. Large percentage of the cost of gasoline is TAX. Which funds a large portion of state revenue globally. The euopean govt. love gasoline. without gasoline tax, they'd be broke.




otherwise cheap electric cars are a days worth of work.
 
Anyone here ever look into Hyraulic Energy Storage and Hydraulic Hybrid vehicles?

Many advantages over batteries for a greener vehicle. Low cost parts and technology in production today. Proven accumulator technology provides for more efficient regenerative energy capture. 50% of fuel and battery problems are solved using fluid power.

The highway / range dilema can easily be solved with efficient onboard gas / or plug in electric chargers. These motors do not drive the car but pressurize long range accumulators. I'm sure efficient electric wheel in motor technology can be integrated for long range highway drivng.


The hydraulic hybrid solution is very low cost and is being deployed today. City stop and go mileage exceeds highway mileage.

UPS has deployed the technology in their Hydraulic Hybrids:
