CCW holder arrested for leaving his gun locked up safely at home

Quote from Tsing Tao:

This is pretty much how it is here in Florida. I was stopped by an officer on a routine traffic stop. The officer told me he noted that I had a CCW, and asked me if I had the weapon on me. I replied "It wouldn't do much good to have the CCW if I didn't." He smiled and just said "yeah, figured I'd ask. Is it loaded?" I just gave him a silly look and he smiled sheepishly.

Ended up letting me go with no issue.

When I took my class we were instructed to show our CCW with the DL when being pulled over and if asked inform the officer where the weapon was located..... I'm not sure if that has changed here since the data upgrade.... need to research it I guess.

Only been pulled over a couple of times since getting mine, never a ticket and never a problem.

Considering the intent of the 2nd amendment, should the police know who has a firearm? Everyone should be assumed to have one, and precaution taken accordingly.

Just open carry and problem solved

The story has to be missing something or that officer was either having a real bad day, or needs lots of additional training.

Or.. maybe just a little BJ... to "take the edge off".

:D

Precaution for what? The man was pulled over for no reason -- no probable cause. He should sue and do everything he can to get the cop fired. When someone legally owns a gun or legally carries a gun that means they're obeying guns laws, not breaking them.

The fact that cops get away with this shit is why we're becoming a police state. That cop should be fired and spend a year in jail.

If you believe the story is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, then yes, he was pulled over for no reason.

Considering that both the officer's supervisors and the organization he represented were so quick to offer an apology, I think we can pretty much gather it was as reported.

Unless you just want to argue again.

Why qualify with "pretty much", then?

Quote from JamesL:

Late last year I was in New Brunswick, NJ for an alumni event at Rutgers. While walking around the campus and city I noticed that there were nearly a dozen different police forces that had jurisdiction in the city:

New Brunswick Police
Rutgers Campus Police
Sheriff'S Office (Superior court located in NB)
Middlesex County Police
NJ Transit Police
Amtrak Police
Postal Police
Parks Department Police
Housing Authority Police
Environmental Police
NJ State Police

All of these forces have the authority to stop, question, and/or arrest any individual within city limits regardless of the unit they are attached to.

This is what a police state looks like.

Interesting post; its bigger that that,[a] some IRS agents have guns dont forget the ATF [c] Wildlife Officers + my favorite is . In TN its TWRA =TN Wildlife Resources Agency,, GOD bless the TWRA. If a bear, or buffalow get loose in TN city limits, look out bear/ bull,; TWRA are good shots,LOL but true=====================================

PS That group does seeem a bit ususual ,as most county officers stay out of city limits, generally speaking. Also by the way,, that man stopped had out of state tags= a red/ORANGE flag, which tells/screams to many policeman ''stop them ,NON RESIDENT out of state tags''

Same OLD pattern ;;;;;;;even MOST state game & fish depts charge NON RESIDENTS BIG buck$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

That CCW man is too sensitive; some law officers have been shot stopping cars, so look @ both sides of trade. And the game warden NEVER has needed a search warrant.....

Thank you,murray t t ;

It's conversational tone that uses sarcasm to infer that it's 100% certain. But then, you already knew that.
