Why Do Some Assert That Catholics Are Not Christians?
Being a Christian is not based on anything except placing faith in Jesus and accepting Him as your Savior and Lord. If a person believes this, then they are a Christian, and nobody can take that away from them.

The topic of Catholics not being true Christians has been a difficult topic for many decades to address. Due to the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church, many denominations argue that Catholics are not Christians.

This type of assertion is not biblical, as we cannot know a person's heart as God can. As believers, we do not need to judge others based on their denomination.

Discussing Catholicism
Catholicism has many unbiblical practices and teachings, such as purgatory, sacraments, and the rosary, yet this does not mean a person is not a Christian.

A person becomes a Christian by placing faith in Christ by believing that He died for their sin, was buried, and rose again (John 3:16-17; Romans 10; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

If a person accepts Jesus as their Savior and Lord, then they are a true Christian. It doesn't matter if that person attends a Catholic Church, a Baptist Church, a Methodist Church, or a Moravian Church.

In other words, it doesn't matter what denomination a person is a part of, but rather if they have placed faith in Christ. Placing faith in Jesus is the only way a person is a Christian.

Therefore, a Catholic can be a Christian if they have placed faith in Christ as their Savior and Lord. This does not mean their theology is perfect because much of Catholicism is not biblically based.

Teachings such as purgatory, sacraments, and praying the rosary are teachings and beliefs within Catholicism — not the true Word of God. The theology of Catholics is skewed, yet they can still be true Christians if they have placed faith in Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

Like it or not, Roman Catholicism is the original Coke/Pope and they literally wrote the book. Even the Coptics were founded twelve years after RC (splitters!) :)

Praying with a rosary allows Catholics to achieve the same meditative state as Buddhist monks do. I recall an interesting piece on a using fMRI to compare the brains. There are depths to Catholicism that the mall franchise churches can't touch. Ignatian spirituality within Catholicism produces some intersting people.

  • the catholic church tortured and killed during the inquisition,
  • in sold free pass to heaven to noblemen who willed their land to them,
  • it sold bits of wood saying they were from the cross and would get you into heaven
  • the priests have sodomized and raped children (with 3268 priest in Ireland alone)
  • the catholic church reveres wealth serving Mammon and not God (it is the wealthiest organization in the world, holding more gold than anyone else and more land than any other organization) - Directly in opposition to the teaching of the Son of God.
  • it tells its parishioners to call priests "Father" directly against what Jesus the Son of God specifically directed.

By their actions you shall know them as Christ said.

===> what nonsense. You can't seriously think "they literally wrote the book." You are saying the church which decided on the 4 gospels to include in 328ad, wrote the New Testament?

  • Matthew 85AD,
  • Mark 65AD,
  • Luke about 65AD,
  • John 90AD .
These were written in Greek, then latter translated.

Jerome translated the Greek into Latin which the Roman Catholic Church left in Latin so the average church attendee could not know what was written and forced people to turn to them the priests, in disobedience to what Christ taught.

Praying with a rosary allows Catholics to achieve the same meditative state as Buddhist monks do.

why not just read the New testament for yourself?

Arguing for the sake of arguing especially in the way you have done shows to everyone who has read the New Testament that you haven't read the 4 gospels.

If you don't read and study what Jesus said and did then you don't believe in Jesus as the son of God and cannot be a Christian.
