Quote from Dragons Teeth:
The ME is changing and Israel is now no longer the Cold War bastion it once was and its really only Iran and Syria that remain as viable enemies and I would say that Iran is going flip over into something resembling a democracy in the next couple of years and Syria feeling left out will eventually conform. I wonât say itâs a great neighbourhood but its getting better every year and with the US establishing a long term mission of sorts in the area I would say the need for Israel as a lever is now diminishing. I would say the possession of nuclear weapons has little to do with a nations relevance take a look at Pakistan for instance which is a nuclear nation but if it was not for Afghanistan and the war on terror it would be a nation better known for exporting migrants and good cricket. I chose Ireland as an example as they have slightly smaller population and a higher GDP.
