Captain Sanders: Civil War

Seriously?
Here is the connection that needed to be made. It is now clear in my mind, beyond reasonable doubt, that Clinton was well aware of what was going on. Whether she instigated or not is not the issue, she could have said and insisted to the DNC that staying impartial is important.

She has no code of honor. Zero. The Bern is blinded by Clintons sacrifice at the altar to what he believes and the causes he has fought so hard for probably decades. It is simply too hard for him to refuse to endorse her - she basically bribed him with an offer he couldn't refuse. But NOT endorsing her - that is probably the moral thing to do. I cannot fault him, especially if Clinton follows through on her promises to him. But be careful making deals with dishonorable people, Bern.

"...4) A Clinton lawyer gives DNC strategy advice on Sanders

When the Sanders campaign alleged that the Clinton campaign was improperly using its joint fundraising committee with the DNC to benefit itself, Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias offered the DNC guidance on how to respond.

"My suggestion is that the DNC put out a statement saying that the accusations the Sanders campaign are not true," Elias said May 3 in response to an email about the issue sent by communications director Luis Miranda to other DNC stuff that copied Elias and another lawyer at his firm, Perkins Coie.

Elias continued: "The fact that CNN notes that you aren’t getting between the two campaigns is the problem. Here, Sanders is attacking the DNC and its current practice, its past practice with the POTUS and with Sec Kerry. Just as the RNC pushes back directly on Trump over 'rigged system', the DNC should push back DIRECTLY at Sanders and say that what he is saying is false and harmful the the Democratic party."

Elias's guidance isn't perhaps all that shocking; he's Clinton's lawyer, after all. But the fact that he was talking to the DNC about how to respond would appear to suggest coordination between the DNC and Clinton campaign against Sanders in this particular case..."

The way this whole thing has played out is PERFECTLY depicted in this scene. Life imitating art.

There is no Kingdom of Heaven when people rationalize immoral actions, the way Sybilla does here:

I understand why you're angry. But do you believe political machination like this is unusual or isolated in time or place?

No. I am no fool to believe these people in one way or the other and by the very nature of politics, have to make deals with the devil once in a while "for the greater good." Sybilla is probably right in the real world, but it is so easy after the first lie to let others creep in one-by-one until what you have left are all lies.

Politics middle name is compromise. But there is a line, when crossed, that should be a warning sign to us all. 1930s Germany was one instance. Ancient Rome another.

I am no expert, but in my life of 53 years, I have never seen this level of treachery. The devil is no longer in the details, he has infiltrated the entire consciousness of this country.

I honestly thought Obama was a different kind of leader that could break this country from this vicious circle. He failed in this respect.

it seems really bad right now. And I know every generation may think that. But, the level of corruption for money is unprecedented and it is so may institutions.

From politics to scientists no one need be telling the truth if it serves the party line. And if they pull a debbie wasserman, Hillary and the Cronies will protect here. If they cheat at the sec or in the justice dept or at agw... they will have a gold plated civil job working for the cronies.

This is what happens when generations of people are taught to be PC instead of moral in our schools. There is now no moral compass in so many people... it just points to green.

I about Nitros age (slightly younger... ) but when we were kids.
We were taught to be gentlemen. We were taught honesty is the best policy over and over.
We heard stories about george washinton. We even had good gov't cartoons on Saturday morning. Constitution Rock.

But, our cronies no longer want that. They want unthinking drones who will elect those the party selects.

That might be because the nature of institutional internal communications has changed so much in 53 years. I'm not excusing this, though I do believe it is inevitable, and believe it probably varies in quantity and quality with the size and importance of the political contest.

What's really troubling is the possibility that the russkies are playing our system for their gain. (Sure, we do it too, but that's their problem to solve.) I think the russkies want Drumpf in power because he's exploitable, in two main ways. One, he's naive, he doesn't read books (and proud of it), and "only knows what he reads on the internet". He's clearly utterly ignorant of world history, geopolitics, philosophy, psychology, etc. One can justifiably predict he'll have an equally utterly confused response to international crisis. Naturally, that would benefit any Russian ambition. Two, he's exploitable because he can be steered by simply tugging on his ego. We saw this with Putin's letter attacking American exceptionalism and compliments to Drumpf. Drumpf called the letter "brilliant", and said he's not going to criticize someone who honors him with praise. That's ironic because Drumpf claims he wants to make America exceptional again.

Drumpf, and the American public, are being played like fiddles. We're at each others' throats, and so all eyes are off the 1%, and off more corrupt governments elsewhere.

I'm not particularly upset about the DNC favoring Clinton, both because it was so obvious and because it is politics, not the Olympics or whatever. They needed to appear evenhanded but they wanted Bernie to win about as much as the RNC wanted Trump.

The problem now is that they have made Bernie look like an even bigger idiot than he probably is. He appears clueless. These women conspired against him secretly, then duped him into endorsing Hillary, then Hillary appoints the person who ran the whole scheme as her campaign chair. Bernie the cuck.

I mock his supporters but a lot of them are decent idealistic people who are sickened by what they see happening. Now they see their aspirational hero knee deep in the Clinton sewage, happily splashing around and seemingly oblivious to how they have humiliated him.

We're not in Kansas anymore. I want to see how the powers that be silence the anger that will be on display tonight by Sanders delegates.

File this under "You can't make this stuff up."

Stephanie Rawlins Blake, the mayor of Baltimore whose brilliant idea for handling the riots was to let them burn it out, is the new convention chair.
