I stated the primary point earlier. The campaign finance issues discovered in the Stormy Daniels situation will amount to nothing more than a fine from the elections commission at worst. The violations are minor league.

Did the attempt to indict John Edwards for doing the effectively the exact same thing? What about the dozens of other similar examples of politicians who did the exact same thing to cover up affairs.

They not only "attempted" an indictment, they proceeded with it.

A federal grand jury in North Carolina indicted Edwards in 2011 on six felony charges of violating multiple federal campaign contribution laws to cover up an extramarital affair to which he admitted, following his 2008 campaign. So show me an 80 page draft indictment online? I think it only lives in the fervent imagination of those on the left.

Certainly if such a document exists --- it would have been leaked by now.

It may be leaked to the public eventually. None of us would be surprised. It's existence and some particulars have already leaked to the press, of course. The high probability event is that it will become a court filing eventually. But it does exist, as there are numerous attorneys who have seen it and were involved in its drafting. It is just that it has not been filed yet, so that it is not readily available to you or I. Have patience.

The new draft indictment is somewhat superfluous in any case. We have known about the President's involvement ever since the filing of the Cohen indictment. Apparently the main purpose of the new draft indictment is to identify, for legal purposes, the un-named "candidate for federal office" mentioned in the Cohen indictment, and to extend the evidence. I've read the Cohen indictment, and you could read it if you wanted to. it. It was sufficient, apparently, to get Cohen's cooperation , certainly on the advice of his attorneys. If cohen is guilty of violating campaign finance law, then of course Trump is doubly guilty -- by his own admission! Cohen, according to the indictment you can read, took his directions from "a candidate for Federal Office," i.e., the man you know as "The President," and I know as a lying Jackass. The question has always been whether the "candidate" could claim what appeared to be unreported, illegal, contributions to his campaign were actually just his attempt to keep his sordid affairs away from the gentle ears of loving wife, Melania.

Unfortunately for our dear, orange, continuously lying President, one of the things seized in the raid of Cohen's office and residences was an audio tape proving that the President's purpose was primarily to keep information from the public prior to the election, making the money spent clearly for the purpose of furthering his election probability. And the new 80-page indictment apparently elaborates on that theme and paints the good President into, shall we say, a corner considerably smaller than his fat ass. If a side benefit was to be that the lovely, silver tongued Melania would be spared the awful reality that her fat, disgusting, lying, orange, gangster husband was out grabbing other women "by the pussy,"* then so be it.

The primary issue is that people on the left are blowing up an "indictment" which may not even exist into some type of political issue that will take down Trump and give them a big win. IMO this is just the latest fantasy from the left about Trump with minimal reality backing it. Once this blows over they will move on to the next fantasy.

So far Mueller's work has resulted in over 100 indictments, if you include everything he's sent to the farm teams. Amazing really. The serious crimes are coming up and they will of course implicate the President. Right now the President, as a marginalized asshole, is an asset to the democrats. His behavior could not be more beneficial to them. They are probably hoping he will put more toddlers in cages just before the upcoming celebration of the birth of baby Jesus.

It seems the plan is to let him twist slowly in the wind. Where have I heard that before? I don't think they want to get rid of him for a while. I wouldn't, were I them. He's too useful where he is. That talk is pointless. You can't get rid of him even if you were foolish enough to want to. They have to wait until the Republicans realize they have lashed themselves to the mast of a sinking ship. And too, if you got rid of him now, you'd have something just as unappealing, or worse!. There is no talk of getting rid of him among the leadership. The democrat's leadership is experienced and masterful. Their only real competition is McConnell in the senate, and don't think for a moment that Chuck Schumer, as unappealing as he may appear, is not every bit McConnell's equal when it come to conniving. It is just that he has been rather hamstrung by circumstances. I think the democrats actually have a little edge in competence, particularly evident in the House. And now, come January you'll get to see that on full display. Gird your loins.

The Dems should just reach an agreement with the repubs, tell them they won't go after tax cuts, will look the other way on appointments/corruption, won't touch kavanaugh. Once they impeach, they can pull a McConnell, stab them in the back and start reverting the damage the cheeto has done.

The only thing that's unique is the extensive and ever expanding investigation. Think a Repub controlled Deep State wouldn't have found the same with Clinton, Obama and Clinton?

No. I don't think so. Trump is a unique case because of his severely flawed mental state and his obstinate refusal to submit to long established norms for decency, truth and the rule of law. How we come out of this as a nation is uncertain. Either we come out in favor of truth and the rule of law or we don't. We will know soon enough. This is a test of our Republic, its strength and our resolve. We have been tested before. The civil war, the Great Depression, and the Nixon era. We survived these tests and were stronger afterward. On the 4th of July following the Nixon resignation there were flags that had never flown before and hardly a dry eye in the nation that we love. My guess is that we will come through this test too. But that remains to be seen.
