You seem to be leaving out/missing one very important difference. Veterans actually earned and deserve the VA services. The parasites and welfare queens deserve and have earned NOTHING!

As little as four years of service is earning and deserving of a lifetime of free benefits...really???
Why wouldn't employment in a civil service job, still serving the US, also be covered by a lifetime of benefits. What about independent contractors overseas in harms way doing the same job as our military, shouldn't haven't they also earned and "deserve" the same benefits?? They are all just people doing their jobs. But I agree that basic health benefits should be available to all Americans who have put in at least four years of work.

For the record, let me say that I do not have anyone on ignore. I try to treat others with respect in the P&R forum - in same the manner as if I was having a beer and direct converstation with them. We may disagree with some subjects but at least people can be polite.

My remarks did not concern worthiness. The VA is an example of socialism and central planning. Where is the outrage from those who are constantly harping against socialist this, socialist that, lefty this and lefty that. I have not heard a one of them propose privatizing the VA. Where is the consistency in their arguments? There isn't any.

But there IS consistency. In the very point you so willing keep overlooking, worthiness. You're trying to lump military veterans in the same pile as parasites and welfare queens. Two different animals. One who has earned it and one who has not. I and most other tax payers don't mind paying for those that have earned it. I and most tax payers despise being forced to pay for those who have not.

If someone has EARNED services then their benefits centrally planned or not is not socialism is it?
