there are layers of protections to prevent the public from getting a decent candidate elected. it is no accident that we end up with the 3 stooges.

Politicians in general are not liked in the US now. Few of them are really trying to improve the place, just enrich themselves or gain power. Pork spending is a perfect example.

Notice how popular congress is? At record lows in approval ratings. Its not just an economic thing either. This congress has been at these lows even when the economy still looked cheery. Its the fact that they don't really do anything!
