California Will Hike Minimum Wage To $15/Hour

Well, which is it? You claim low minimum states will get all the duds but then you claim labor is not mobile.

The evidence of tens of millions of illegals invading us would tend to suggest that low income labor is quite mobile.

Legal low income labor is immobile. I did not say that, but I implied it because it is true.
Don't you think the 0.03% illegals problem has been a bit exaggerated? It is a concern of course, and we must have control over immigration. You'll find 100% agreement on that. But lets focus our concerns on more significant problems . We have the largest number incarcerated per capita of any nation!; that should concern us. We have for profit prisons; the conflicts of interest attendant to that should concern us. We are the only nation that does not have universal access to routine health care; that should concern us. We spend almost as much per capita as the rest of the world combined on military hardware and military personnel; that should concern us. We are involved in continual wars; that should concern us. Our politicians are bought and paid for by special interests; that should concern us.

These, and other concerns I haven't mentioned, should take precedence over our concern about the 0.03% of the population that is here illegally.

we have had 700 percent inflation since the 60s. I know it damn well.
I remember my dad's coffee being a nickel. I remember volkswagons being 2000 dollars as a kid. a few years later I remember a house in greenwich ct on 2.75 acres being 159,000 dollars in 1976.

but.... my comment was really a jab at ricter who has been downplaying the existence of inflation in support of his big govt ideas.
And you keep downplaying the existence of wage inflation.

No kidding. These are the same geniuses who think rent control is a good way to deal with housing shortages.

If the minimum wage is such a great idea, why stop at $15? You can't really support a family on $15 an hour. Why not $50? $75?
Most inputs to any product are subject to some regulation or another. One could argue for less regulation of food safety so we can get the cost of beef and lettuce down.

Where do you get these numbers? From the Sanders campaign? The number that is thrown about is 11 million illegals. I would guess the true number is a multiple of that, since under Obama we have no idea how many he has ushered in and hidden. But 11 million out of a population of around 300 million is more like 3.6%. And growing exponentially. The true number is probably 30 million or more, or around 10%. In many areas it is probably closer to 50%.

We have a lot of problems , granted. The huge and growing number of illegals and bogus legal refugees only make them worse.

This is utter nonsense.

Unless you have better data, unaffected by your ODS...

Safe to say that there are better than 10 million illegals here. In regard to the minimum wage that fact is irrelevant. See previous post to read the real problem(s). Thinking that the economy will suddenly and somehow magically be all better through minimum adjustments and immigration reform falls into the just plain old stupidity category, but hey, it is a nice diversion they use on us to keep everyone hoping from one foot to the next while they continue to run their scam.

Patience, grasshopper. $50-$75/hr is coming too.

(Different time. I remember being in HS and college, mopping floors and swabbing toilets as a janitor for $2.25/hr.)

complete and absolute horseshit.

you and others have said wages have gone up. We have exchanged posts on the amounts wages have gone up. I have never denied they have gone up. I believe I have posted links which show the actual amounts of wage inflation.

I have told you the inflation is part of design to capture all assets within a generation or two. Its very hard to keep assets in the family and therefore the ability to buy politicians if you have massive inflation, progressive taxation and death taxes. That is was the system is all about. The top cronies get to have very expensive tax dodges... and access to the privately controlled printing press... which they then use to protect their position by purchasing dems and republicans... and govts around the world.

.

And you keep downplaying the existence of wage inflation.
