On a related note, yesterday I walked into McDonalds and encountered the new kiosks for the first time. Tap tap tap and a final tap to pay and I got a receipt and a number. Waited for the number to be called and walked out with my food.
Did minimum wage rise here in Calgary, encouraging McDonalds to add kiosks? Nope. What has probably happened is that kiosks are getting cheaper thanks to mass production and... wait for it... automation in their production.

If it's cheaper to put in a kiosk than to have a minimum wage employee, how many more kiosks and robots will we find as minimum wage increases?
Because they want their competition to pay it, too. From the business "signatories" list of your link, Freddie. You'll note Ben & Jerry's pushing for the $10.10 an hour wage. Interestingly, they still pay $9 an hour for their scoopers. Now, this is above minimum wage, but if they're so strongly supporting the $10.10 an hour initiative...why not pay it?
