California....what happened?

Quote from Dr. Zhivodka:

When Bob Bullock, Bill Clements and Mark White were rulling Texas...The rest of country wanted to rid themselves of you.
Damn shame they didn't!:)

Welcome to last week. Last week, last year and the last fifty fucking decades.

You are quite the superstar...aren't you? BTW: how are those tortilla's already in San Antonio and the Oil lease sales at front month $40?

Quote from EMRGLOBAL:

LA TIMES ( READ IT) this past weekend, had a break down of just LA Proper.

Huge illegal imigration issue.

40% of the population does not pay taxes.

70% of the illegal population lives in HUD housing.

Health Care cost for child birth, through the roof.

Keep in mind, this was for LA only, that I read..

And the list goes on and on.

I about dropped the paper when I was at LAX. For the first time, I have never read any such argument in the Local Paper.

No worries, the "COMRADS" and the "COLLECTIVE GOOD" will tell everyone that the "RICH" destroyed CALI!!!!!

(I recently asked my nephew, who is a freshman in high school, what he was taught about money, U.S. history and civics and his answer was . . . . . nothing. )
----------------

The day is coming when "it" won't even be called a school.

Of course you do remember $10 rude crude...Post Oak properties at auction prices. I remember going to farm tractor implement auctions.

Remember Texans squealing to high heaven back then for "someone to save,"us?

Shortly after Arnold was elected Gov. he quickly floated 3 propositions on the ballot to reform state Gov. The first was
a constitutional admendment to cap the future growth of state spending to a formula based on population growth and annual inflation. This would effectively schakel lawmakers from legislating irresponsible spending. The real shocker is that the population of CA actually shot this proposition down. It was
coined the "Live within our means Act". The majority of voters
here seem to think that indifinite, indescriminite, spending is
ok.

Quote from screenstruck:

Universal suffrage shouldn’t be Universal

Agreed, but wouldn't everyone get to vote on whether to abolish it or not?

Quote from Stosh:
I wonder if such results are inevitable in a democracy. When the vote of someone who pays no taxes and won't work counts the same as a hard working, responsible person, how can we expect anything else? It is similar to two wolves and a chicken voting over what to have for dinner. Stosh
Just because someone doesn’t pay taxes doesn’t mean they are not hard working or not responsible. When someone works 2 jobs, 40+ hours a week and still can’t afford a small apartment or health insurance, something is wrong. Can you blame them for voting for what they thought they were supposed to get by working hard? We were told when we were little that if we worked hard and played by the rules, then we can do anything. But does anybody really think that’s the case today? Granted there are many people who are lazy and think they are owed everything, but this is not most people.

Think of it another way. Yea those people on minimum wage don’t pay taxes, but let’s say that every person should make $5 an hour more, but they don’t because of a tight labor market. So for every 10 people who make minimum wage, 1 person is getting all that extra money and paying taxes on it, at a higher rate. So in the end doesn’t it work out?
