California hikes minimum wage to $20/hr. Workers now make $0/hr

The wage market is not a free wage market when one company pays it employees healthcare and high enough wages their employees don't qualify for benefits like food stamps and another company does not so the government has to pay that company's employees 500 a month Obamacare credit and 300.00 dollars in food stamps.

A company is a price taker for the skills it needs. A job seeker is a price taker for the skills they provide.

Btw - all companies (except very small ones, like less than 15 employees) have to provide at least Obamacare. Or they have to pay a penalty which covers the cost of Obamacare for their employees.

Not the entire cost of Obamacare

Not the entire cost of Obamacare

It's actually cheaper to pay for Obamacare than to pay the fine. I had this conversation with my insurance broker last week. (as a hypothetical, we give decent insurance to our employees).

UPS drivers make over 100,000 a year

Amazon drivers make 18-20 an hour

Some companies pay drivers 7.25 an hour

All the same skill.

The market isn't perfect as there's friction. We could mandate each job has a required wage... i think that's been tried before, but i can't remember which country tried it and how it went.

All those drivers should go to UPS.
