I think you've had a little too much to drink...you're too confused about why organizations do not want you to use business domains for personal things like academics, medical, personal.
Some organizations have those types of policy to protect peoples privacy. Now imagine when there's a mistake (shit does happen...has happen) and you wanted to send a group email to your child's teachers but instead you sent it to your business associates, personal friends, family, government agencies along with (to) your children teachers.
Oh the chaos when shit happens !

With all due respect you are talking out of your ass. Organizations could not give a darn about my benefits or privacy. It is my choice which privacy level I choose and how I responsibly handle email and so it should be my and everyone's freedom which email domain I use. Are you living in a communist country or something? Everyone must be forced what to do and choose? Goodness.
Some actually do but don't be offended when you come across one that does protect your privacy as in also protecting the privacy of others on the same system. In contrast, some do not care while other do care but have poor security systems in place (hackers gain access to the info).
It's the world we live in today...that's life and your choice to move on to something else that has less rules about email domains.
Oh the chaos involving email domains...I won't be able to sleep tonight or maybe I should write a complaint to my political leaders in hopes of improving the world for all.

You still don't get it, last attempt, I promise not to waste any additional time on you/this topic beyond this last try: You choose your email domain and live happily every after. I choose my own email domain and am happy. My choice does not limit your choice. You should be happy. My choice does not not pose any technical nor privacy issues beyond what is acceptable to me myself. It does not impact your choice of privacy whatsoever. In your world I am forced to choose an email domain I do not like. For no logical reason, no technical reason, no privacy reason. It is beyond me why you do not grasp this simple concept of freedom of choice as long as it does not infringe on anyone else's freedom. I can't do better explaining this simplistic stuff to you.
P.S. And from your cynical comments re writing letters to any representatives it is now 100% apparent and clear how you care about nothing and no one besides yourself or close ones. As long as you reap your immediate benefit all is good regardless of how others are impacted. The dictionary defines this as selfish/self centered. To be fair, if you're a school and you decide to use the google apps suite to communicate with parents, it requires them to use gmail to access all the features. Same concept with the MSFT cloud and probably others. Nothing nefarious, just a business decision on the school's part. If a parent objects to the suite the school uses enough to disenroll their kids then it was probably a bad fit to begin with and both parties are better off without the other.
Strongly agree and don't get me started on MSFT cloud.
Regardless, its all a choice...some use it because it doesn't impact their life while others refuse to use it because they believe it will impact their life or cause chaos for others.
If I don't like it...I shop elsewhere. Its that simple...other schools out there. Similar to the Op knowing that there are other brokers out there for him to use.

Fully agree if that was the case. But the issue was about forcing parents to use an address of a public domain for no apparent reason (at least it was not given and rejected to be given) not just a specific one for a specific purpose which in your example of gsuite would make perfect sense. Many other services actually allow the use of other email domains to register and use such services as long as the email system is not an intrinsically interwoven part of the service. I use a gmail address for my one-drive accounts and it works perfectly fine with onedrive and the entire office365 suite. So, I believe the scenarios are quite different. At the least I asked @wrbtrader politely multiple times for the reason why his school requires a public domain email address to which he barked back "not your business".
As a person who runs a faintly similar business model I alternate between hate and admiration for the way they manage to lock people and organizations in!don't get me started on MSFT cloud.
Take some time to not confuse forcing parents to use an address of a public domain for no apparent reason versus you requesting to know why...
Its none of your business but should be very obvious about the why when others have given a simple reason. I made a choice to not explain it to you myself...resulting in you seemingly not too comfortable with my choice not to explain it to you (no explanation needed).
