Part of my message...the OP (gaussian) name was accidentally removed and the other part (the part I quoted) was for the person that stated the below...
Don't take it so personally when policies in another country involving school boards have no impact on you nor any impact on the people using those particular schools in reference to you saying
It just irks me and bothers me somewhat how so many human beings take so much shit.
Once again, the schools policy is
none of your business and the kids are not being brainwash when parents are
not allow to use business related email addresses especially when most business email addresses can
not connect to many of the
private social media functions that the schools uses.
Simply, as your original question stated...
care to explain why ?
Its
none of your business and do not take it personally. Thus, I choose not to explain why eventhough I strongly believe its obvious in today's world where schools are starting to do many things through social media...something I do not like but that's life at
many schools.
I remember a similar like funny outrage back in the 80's when many universities decided to only send academic reporting, billing information, private student info to students university email address (.edu) and then followed up with regular mail a few weeks later.
Some students thought it was weird or thought
"big brother was controlling them" when they discover they couldn't get the same info at their Yahoo or Hotmail email addresses nor change from the .edu to a free personal email address at a later date. Students thought they were being "brainwashed", "controlled" and that it was "their right" to chose whatever email address they wanted to use to receive such private information.
There are schools that have strange email policies to protect the privacy of their students and others do it to prevent abuse of the system by the parents.
That's my point. Now imagine the opposite in an academic environment when parents try to use their business domain for interaction with school administration. Now imagine receiving private information about your child from his school (grades, school functions, medical alerts and so on) at your business domain address.
Personal (public) and business email addresses...one should not be used for the other. More organizations are enforcing such a policy.
