Buy a Call Option v Sell a Put Option

you are the laziest poster on this site. Your greatest contribution has been a short lived
Thread of attractive women.

you are capable of more than just snide remarks. It’s a shame you don’t.
I told the truth in order to motivate the OP. Instead there are posters like yourself who are enabling him. Enabling someone is not doing them a favor. To top off posters on this thread don't even give complete info., which may mislead the OP to take risks which he should not be taking.

These kind of questions show intellectual laziness. Get a book or a video or google for an answer.

Surely that’s a contradiction in terms. If ask questions and gain knowledge avoiding hard work that is surely and intelligent (intellectual) way to do it?

Being derisive isn’t motivating anyone.

The option you chose depends on your outlook on the stock. If you think the stock will move up quickly, then buy the call option. If you think the stock will meandering and move up slowly, then sell the put option. Call options need the stock to move up quick (faster than the time decay) to profit. Put options profit with the stock moving sideways to slightly upward; you buy time with short put options.

You and I have different definitions of derisive. Thanks for checking my posts.

I hope I have encouraged to be helpful by calling you lazy.
There are so many ET posters with thin skins. Count yourself amongst them. It has something to do with American education, the whining and feeling of entitlement. That should be saved from another thread. Right?

ooh.... are you trying to encouraging me?

wherever you got your education from,
It’s clear you haven’t learned anything about trading - because you don’t post anything about trading on a trading website.

CALL OPTION
I buy a CALL Option believing the stock will rise above my Strike price. I profit when I close that Option at a price above my Strike Price.

SHORTING a PUT OPTION
I short (sell) a Put option believing the stock will rise above my Strike price. I profit when I close that Option at a price above my Strike Price.

Both Option contracts profit when the Share Price rises above the Strike Price. If I believe that the Share price in Widget PLC is about to rise why would I choose one Option contract over the other?

Note1. I don’t hold any stock in Widget PLC.
Note2. I understand that the Premium received factors into the ‘profit’ equation with the Short Put Option

  • In your example you are better off BUYING THE CALL. Less risk and more profit potential than the Naked Put.
  • Put selling brings in peanuts.
  • Naked Put is the same as a Covered Call in terms of risk and profit potential - so that might make it easier to visualize the naked put.
