I really don't understand this line of thinking- the notion that free world leaders are somehow negligent if they "fan the flames of terrorism" by taking a stand.
If someone already hates your guts, how is it possible to make them any angrier? What are they going to say?

You don't stop terrorists by getting them to see the light of reason. You stop them with determination and force. If they get more pissed, that's probably a sign that you're doing something right.

Uh, no, how about we just make it clear that murder of innocents is not an acceptable way to get your point across, and then back that statement with force, as responsible defenders of the rule of law should do?
