Brief high intensity bodyweight workout at home without equipment

I can’t bench twice my weight and never have.
All else being equal, I think it's easier for shorter guys to lift more in relation to their weight. (Something to do with torque, perhaps?) And it wasn't quite double in my case, but close. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm quite short.

That is very impressive for a big guy. At what rep speed? Ballpark.

I just did 17 and I am rested, so I was a tad optimistic. I pause at the bottom to assure that I'm not swinging. Remember the Presidential Physical Fitness program? I put up 32. I heard from a classmate that someone hit 34 pullups at New Trier.

The rep(utation) from that single event got me into a lifetime of lifting. Pullups are for mesomorphs. You'll see guys at 200lbs that can do 30 pullups but can't bench 225.

I am 6'3" and you're correct. Just watch the totals (combined lifts) in the CrossFit games. The shorter guys always put up the best numbers relative to their weight. Shorter muscle bodies relate to shorter movements (movement travel).

Still very good. As I mentioned recently, I am presently doing them unweighted but at a slower rep speed, of about 6 to 8 seconds per full rep, split fairly evenly between concentric and eccentric, although maybe a second or so longer for the eccentric. Full range with elbows fully extended, but no pause at the bottom; only very briefly at the top. If you ever feel inclined, give them a try and tell me what you think.

Oh God no. I am going as fast as is humanely possible w/o swinging.

You see it as complexity and drama. it is just a fitness approach that maximizes time and provides cardio/strength/HITT together. Lots of people don't just want to sit on a bench and push weight for 3 sets of 10.

Many people just want to go to the gym, do their chest and back workout and go home. Great, don't do CF. I don't understand why something has to appeal specifically to you to have any value to others.

Also many people I see in the gym are sitting on their ass on their phone in between sets or talking or doing everything but workout and wonder why it takes them 2 hours. CF is basically using the group to motivate and push (contrary to popular belief, CF boxes are not ultra competitive or filled with meat head assholes) as well as the trainer. Most people in the gym cannot self- motivate. Just go to a normal gym and watch the amount of wasted time sitting around/bullshitting/phone use. If you can do your workout hard and get in and out without the distractions, great. DOn't do CF.
I know a few that left the gym for CF, but they did it for the "urban warrior games" for the common man. (they actually lost muscle mass CF'ing but you'll never convince them of this)I'll bet you spend 4hrs, driving to, BSitting with the bro's, SELFIES to put on FB, shower driving back home.

How much that time is actually "exercising"?

4 hours? who the fuck has that time... training is an hour and my gym is 10 mins away. Anyone who losses mass is not working out right. Why not blame the person? You have to take personal responsibility and stop making excuses.

Perhaps for someone who didn't work out at all or just minimally before CF. But ESfocus was referring to his friends who previously trained in the gym and presumably more conventionally. If they now didn't do it "right," wouldn't the CF instructor or CF peer pressure inform them?

Anyway, I don't know ESfocus or his friends. I'm just clarifying my understanding of his point. Perhaps he can elaborate.
