Breaking news: Niederhoffer still in business after market correction!

in all honesty, i was an admirer of VN, considered him to be a genius...even thinking of naming my kid Victor lol  .... I guess i still admire him but now my eyes are opened to the other side of the coin as well. I think i get the gist of what archimedes is saying and see some truth in it.

Kudos to all for these enlightening discussions on VN's persona and his trading methods..Keep it up :)

Quote from Reckoner:

Niederhoffer has a doctorate in statistics.

Niederhoffer's fund was the top performer in its category for the last 3 years.

I am no statistician, but doesn't this work the other way? That after a good long run, you are due to a little weakness?

After all, LTCM's first 3 years were excellent too, and we remember how the 4th year ended...

Vic has many good points, great book reco.s and out of the box observations. Decent book, good site, You can learn some things from him. If you ever have a mentor, you will find that they are private, quiet, humble, unassuming and not self-proclaiming, and few top traders have any websites. They are very private individuals that constantly work to make themselves better. they are seldom self-promoters or their EGO is hidden at least.

Quote from Reckoner:

Actually you don't know who I am, but this doesn't making a whole list of assumptions. Just the same as you are doing with Niederhoffer.

And the fact that you have no respect for the achievements of others probably means you don't have any real ones of your own, apart from college that is. So you're just empty rhetoric, probably well educated but with little actual substance.
we know you are an idiot, or a fraud, perhaps even to yourself, and thats pretty much all we need to know thank u

Nope, sorry. Who you are doesn't matter. I don't need to know your identity to assess the quality of your thinking. You've given examples of it right here in print. If I see you slice a hook on the golf course and take out a window in the clubhouse, I don't need to know who you are to observe that you're a lousy golfer.

The nice thing about a message board, you see, is that while names and faces are hidden, the logic in one's posts--or the lack thereof--is right there for all to see. Your logic is consistently weak here.

For example: re assumptions about Niederhoffer, everything I've said about him is based on readily available information, and statements made by him, right out there in the public domain. So once again you demonstrate my point regarding your mediocre analytical capabilities by misconstruing my position in a way that doesn't even make sense.

I have huge respect for the legitimate achievements of others, and I have demonstrated that respect again and again. In fact, that is in large part why Niederhoffer's false claims are so grating--they belittle the actual great things that other traders have achieved. To call Vic great is to debase the term as applied to others who actually are.

Here's a tip: cut your losses quickly. It's a good rule for debating forums as well as trades. The inability to let go of a bad position is another 'tell' that goes along with mediocre skills and mediocre character. But the good news is that people can change for the better, especially if they embrace the concept of arete and let go of ego. Try it, you'll like it.

I will do as you suggest and cut my lost time with this thread and venue.

For those keeping score, Archimedes has thoroughly thrashed this Marketsurfer and his 10 aliases. He might be able to change his aliases, but it sure hasn't added anything to his abysmal IQ.

Vic "outed" you and your trend marketing scheme. Why don't you come out frombehind the mask Mike Covel?
