You are comparing a coke allergy to a vaccine allergy. The former is a consumer product that can be purchased anywhere. The latter is a vaccine which your ilk hope the government will make mandatory everywhere.

If I were older or in worse immune shape I would take the risk too.
In my shape at my age I consider the vaccine an interesting risk reward balance.
My wife who is 5 years younger and runs half marathons... no way she should risk the vaccine.
I am pretty sure she has already had covid any way.
My kids... who are all active and healthy... their is no reason to risk the vaccine...
since at the moment the manufacturers do not know it would even protect them from spreading the virus. (by the way... apparently the manufacturers agree since the vaccine is not made for kids at the moment.)
that is my calculus... it should be each persons choice with and experimental vaccine using new tech.

By the very definition — any vaccine that has successfully completed FDA Phase 3 safety and efficacy trials is mainstream and not experimental.
And what if the FDA changed the safety and efficacy trials in order to rush a vaccine through? I'm not saying they did, just wondering if that would change your viewpoint at all in regards to safety. We're not talking about something that is technically mainstream. You are right, by definition something that has passed the FDA is mainstream. But that simply makes everyone put complete, even blind, faith in the FDA. A governmental organization that is subject to the same political pressures as any other organization in government. The FDA has had many issues in the past. This is the very first of a long list of google searches.

Yeah.... and a third of new toys introduced in the U.S. had problems.
In the FDA approval process for COVID vaccines the manufacturers demanded that the Phase 3 trails be properly completed and documented before they would release the vaccines. If you use your memory correctly this was to stop Trump from releasing the vaccines via executive order before the Phase 3 trials were completed. The drug manufacturers wanted to stop political interference from rushing the vaccine through -- because they knew that people would not trust a vaccine that was rushed through due to political interference.
Those that do not trust the vaccine and/or feel they do not need a vaccine...
That's your choice but be aware that many schools, universities, air travel, crossing borders and such will soon require proof of vaccination (e.g. vaccination card) for you to use those services.
Some countries and businesses (e.g. Airline industry) already preparing for such and doing it as I write this message post.
Your other option instead of vaccination...wear a face mask, social distance and wash your hands.
Deciding to do both...no vaccine and no face mask...suicidal and an idiot. Asking family members to do the same that are not adults is neglect.
