It's you who bought up legitimacy of gay marriage ruling because it was court directed - Bush's presidency was court directed too.

Then you say IF there was a recount then Bush would have won anyway (a hypothetical) saying that makes it legitimate - while saying gay marriage is not legitimate by citing a hypothetical scenario. I just exposed your double standard.

the end of the reply was general and broad. had it been limited to DOJ only he should have said so or corrected it the way Jeff Sessions corrected his testimony.

The end was part of the beginning - the beginning was a direct YES OR NO question about DOJ officials, there is no way you can spin this into anything else.
 
From the transcript, the 'end' part. Notice how he is STILL talking about DOJ officials and continues to keep talking about them till the end.

Often times they give us opinions that we don't see a case there, and so you ought to stop investing resources in it, but I'm talking about a situation where we were told to stop something for a political reason.
