I am glad your dad was cool, if its true. My father was too. He was a great dad... and relevant to here... he made about 4 to 5 million trading in his retirement. Pretty cool.
I was able to post here.... because I traded for a living for many years and I came here when I had trades on that I did not want to watch. When the vol died I switched to longer term trading. But, lately I have thought about daytrading again...we will see.
Finally, I can tell by your attitude you are unlikely to be real money trader.
A real trader sees both sides.
Just as you can not see voting for Trump... which I understand... I could not see voting for Hillary (she led a crime family imo.) If you traded you would see both sides.

Until recently, say 2016. Then they pushed the policies put down by the former political appointees.
They push the policies of the former political appointees until the new ones come in and establish new ones via regulation, policy memos or law changes...been that way since Adams took over from Washington.....crack a book.
Yeah, but taxes came more into the picture since then Jemmy. I've never applied for a social security number, never asked for a passport however I have loads of first cousins, aunts and uncles etc. there.

Because I love my little (ok very tall adult) kid (who does have a US passport, her mom) I'm not a fan of weak men who "enable" being all fancy, this administration's sliding the US into a really solid dictatorship within 15 years.

70 former senators say if Republicans are brave enough to stand up to Trump and McConnell — they’ll help save them
Former U.S. senators are begging Republicans to do their jobs and uphold the Constitution and if doing so puts them in political danger, the former senators said they’ll do whatever it takes to save them.
In a letter from 70 former senators in the Washington Post, they accused the Senate of not fulfilling their duties. They explained that the framers of the Constitution crafted Article I to give legislative powers for a reason. Without use of those powers, lawmaking is handed to the less democratic judicial branch.
“We are writing to encourage the creation of a bipartisan caucus of incumbent senators who would be committed to making the Senate function as the Framers of the Constitution intended,” the letter began.
They specifically blasted officials for ceding power to the president as well, citing war powers and regulation of international trade.
diminished power of the Senate made them wonder if there was any point to them even serving in office anymore.
“We do not want to give the impression that we served in some golden age when the Senate operated like clockwork and its members embraced one another as one big happy family,” the letter went on. “Of course, that was never the case. Senators have always advanced strongly held positions and have vigorously engaged in legislative combat.”
Their concern, the letter continued, is that the legislative process isn’t working anymore in the Senate. Some of it has to do with committees who no longer have a responsibility to write legislation, rules let debates go on, the filibuster has been abused, then completely eviscerated. It now takes 60 votes to pass anything.
“This does not have to be viewed as a judgment on today’s Senate leadership; instead, it’s a bipartisan act of shared responsibility and accountability for how we arrived at this point,” the letter said.
They want bipartisanship, whether President Donald Trump does or not.

I started trading long before my dad died and many posters here back in the day knew me and new I traded profitably for a living. They had been to my office or worked in the same LLC. Nothing to do with my dad's money. My mom still has all that. If I think about it... I started trading for a living about the time my dad retired and started making his money.
