Biden/Harris Administration EO’s & Legislation

Manchin’s the dem holdout but let’s talk about why Senators want to keep the filibuster:

First, the Senate was never meant to be “the world’s greatest deliberative body.” It is simply a second body that gives states equal representation. That’s it. The House represents the people’s interest, the senate represents State’s interests. (The Executive Branch represents the Nation’s interest and the Courts the Republic’s interest.)

Second, the filibuster effectively gives individual Senators veto power on par with the President’s. This power super charges individual senators power in the government and that increases all of the donations and influence you can imagine. Think of how much the gun lobby will pay one Senator or the oil lobby. I’m sure you all get it, they only need one Senator in their pocket to stop any legislation they don’t like.

Lastly, this effects republicans and democrats the same. Neither party can get their agenda through congress and that includes repealing laws. So we are stuck with an unresponsive government with outdated laws instead of having a government that can actually try all kinds of different things and change whatever doesn’t work.

TLDR: the filibuster is a scam that gives individual senators veto power that was only meant for the executive branch and senators benefit from this power through donations and influence.
The filibuster is now little more than Rand Paul's sole means to make Americans listen to libertarianism.

Of course he’s plagiarizing Trump but it’s a step in the “right” direction.

Biden Signs Order Boosting Federal Spending On US Products

Maybe someday politicians will stop sending money overseas and just send credits to buy American made in the USA products and produce instead. Harder to filter money back into political coffers I guess....
American protectionism is a solidly lefty/dem issue? The plagiarizing happened from Trump who went anti-GOP line on this issue.

Without looking them up..... I’d say most companies who outsource and produce overseas lean left. Trump was all about bringing that back into the US.

I’d venture to say most of those companies donated to Biden.

the right's been historically capitalistic. The left's been historically pro-worker's rights. Protectionism aims to protect the domestic workforce and is inherently anti-capitalistic. It's a dumb idea and dems have abandoned, it doesn't change the fact that it's a left leaning idea.

A little conflation of economics but Democrats gave up on the blue collar working man 20 years ago. Outside of protecting their union donations they care nada about the middle-class.

Along these lines I enter the next example of horrible Biden decisions.

PPE?

My argument was Trump pushed the Buy American, Made in the USA, repatriating overseas business. Biden is using a similar Buy American motto.

Whoever says it I like it.
